  1. I know my Rose scented soap lingers, because my husband used it and couldn't figure out why he was smelling flowers all day at work. Now the girly scents have to go in a certain corner of the shower. Kim
  2. Do you know if this price includes the lid or is that separate? TIA, Kim
  3. I sell more clamshells then anything else. For the past year they have paid for my booth fee at most of my shows. I think it's funny that the candles that are harder to make and test in my opinion are being out sold by the melts that are much easier to make. I think it all depends on the area you are in. I do have die hard candles fans that would never think to buy a melt. Kim
  4. I make tea-lights out of the little bit of wax that usually have left. If it's not enough for a tea-light then it gets poured in the mystery candle. My family loves the mystery candles and trying to figure out what each layer is. Kim
  5. Thanks for your input. I went with Impact since they are the ones I have used in the past. Kim
  6. I know I had problems with my melts melting when I used a higher melt point votive/pillar wax in some Scentsy melters. Some melters would work ok, then others wouldn't melt like they were suppose to. After many tests of standing over my melters saying melt baby melt, I finally got my recipe to work. Now the whole family thinks I am nutter then normal Kim
  7. Do these compare well to the ones from Impact? I need to order more clamshells, but didn't want to have them look different then my other packaging on my display. TIA, Kim
  8. No good answer for you. Before we moved there were nights they we had to choose between candles or food since I had taken over the kitchen. We ordered alot of take-out food. Now with a bigger space we get to cook/experiment with food again. Can you schedule time to take over the kitchen and maybe store your stuff in a closet out of the way? I just thought of one more suggestion. What about a heated storage unit? You know one of those places you can rent by the month? You might be able to make candles there also. I know one place where a guy used to do wood working in a storage unit. Kim
  9. I have used the cosmo oval bottles for years and my customers really like them. The bottles are easy for them to get the lotion out. Kim
  10. User error is also an option. Maybe the tester accidently banged/bumped the jar against something and it caused the jar to get a hairline crack or weakness to the glass that couldn't be seen. Kim
  11. I have a pot with a spigot also. To help with the drips I have the lastest box of wax that I have opened on a storage tub right underneath where the drips happen. That way if I don't get it closed completely (it happens late at night) then I don't have a huge mess or dogs/cats getting into something they shouldn't. Kim
  12. After she replies back I would send her a replacement bulb and a couple of your strongest scents you have in melts. I would then ask her to let you know if she is able to smell the replacement melts. When I have a customer having issues, I try to make them feel like they are helping me to improve my business by providing feedback. HTH, Kim
  13. Has anyone tried adding a vanilla stabilizer to their lotion bases to stop it from turning colors. I thought I had some stabilizer here, but can't find it anywhere. I wanted to check with you guys before I placed an order. Thanks, Kim
  14. 2 million product liability for candles, lotions, and soaps. They also came out to the house to check things out and asked for ingredient list for the lotions and candles. Kim
  15. I use Auto Owner's for my candle insurance. They run in Iowa about $450 a year. HTH, Kim
  16. Sorry I misspelled the subject line. The word an should be or. Has anyone tried either these? I was debating between order from there or from Peaks. Thanks, Kim
  17. May I ask if the blend you are using is soy? TIA, Kim
  18. I use newspaper to line my work table and I write down on the newspaper what scent I am pouring, so I don't accidently label things wrong. TIA, Kim
  19. Iam not sure the melt point of the wax. I was using votive wax from Soyawax. I thru out the box since I have recently switched to a different brand. Kim
  20. Has anyone been having trouble with soy melts melting completely in the large scentsy pots (she used two squares) or the plug-in melters(I think she used 1 square). I have a customer at work who is having problems. I have sold hundreds of melts (and testing a ton) and have never had a problem. I have even had feedback from other Scentsy customers saying there not having any problems. I would like to hear if anyone else is having problems. TIA, Kim
  21. For soot on jars, I just use baby wipes and it comes right off. For getting old wax out of jars, I put the jar on a candle warmer and pour out the wax in an old fragrance jug. The candlewarmer will also help the wick come loose. HTH, Kim
  22. www.uline.com www.nashvillewraps.com HTH, Kim
  23. Tried that last year with her sister when poured hot wax on herself from a candle and asked why it made her skin turn red. Have to laugh at the family and worry about any children that they make. Kim
  24. Do you guys ever have those customers that send a shiver up your back or your insurance company? I had a customer call me today that made me speechless. Picture this: she had bought some refresher oils from me for some potpourri(or at least that's what I thought it was for), went to Hobby Lobby and bought wax, a jar and some wicks. She follow the directions for melting the wax, added the refresher oil, and then inserted the wick. She waited for it to harden up and then lite it. After the candle had been burning for a while she called me to say it didn't smell like my candles then wondered if the candle was done correctly or if they were safe. Now I mix may refresher oils with just DPG and fragrance. :tiptoe:How dangerous is the candle she made? Sleepless in Iowa, Kim P.S. I did tell her that refresher oils aren't meant to be in candles and I offered to make her a candle for free to show her the difference, but she seemed to be offended. I also recommend that she do some research if she wanted to make candles herself before she tries to make any more.
