  1. Please take it slowly. Candle making is not as easy as it sounds. You must test every fragrance in your wax & jar to make sure you are using correct fragrance load and wick size to create a SAFE, quality product. You will not be much competition to your competitor if you are selling a sub-standard, untested product, and burn someone's house down in the process...which truly HAS HAPPENED to someone I know.
  2. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=5102767 I must dig out my M&P stuff and figure out how to make these!
  3. Ambra del Nepal...mmmmmmmm yum! Yuzu - WONDERFUL in CP Ginger Krumkake - the best gingerbread I've ever smelled Red Currant - this is the Votivo red currant Light Muscovado Sugar - smells just like brown sugar in CP You really can't go wrong with any of their oils, they're awesome.
  4. I use the EVO dyes in my soy tarts, and I get good colors from them - which can be a challenge with soy! I can't smell them at all in the bottle.
  5. IFT does custom blending as well. http://www.iftfragrances.com/
  6. I still don't understand. You are comparing the FO load in your candles to a "standard" that does not exist. How can you say this is legitimate advertising?
  7. I use the Millcreek base and mix the FO with an equal amount of Polysorbate 20 before adding it to the base, then shake it up. It works great for keeping the FO in solution.
  8. Sweetcakes has it, they call it "Cherub Fragrance". www.sweetcakes.com
  9. Post a pic...maybe someone will recognize the packaging.
  10. I ordered from them many times and never had any problems, except for one time when UPS delivered to the wrong house. I called FNWL and they sent a replacement box overnight. I always paid by CC though, so I don't know anything about any Paypal issues with them.
  11. OMG, when I saw this post, I thought the OP was asking the same question AGAIN.
  12. Fragrance Oil Central has bought the fragrance oil formulas from A Scent Shop (Scents for Soy)! There are already some up for sale on their site. www.fragranceoilcentral.com
  13. Jennie, I just read your post to my mom and we are both MORTIFIED. How horrible for you & candlecrazy.
  14. Also, parasoys tend to "sink" in the middle. I've seen it referred to here as the "parasoy dip". It is the nature of the wax.
  15. It does if it sits in the water too long. You can try using better, thicker paper, like linen paper. This will be less likely to disintegrate in the water. On a side note, Lush even has some bath bombs with tea bags in the middle, which I think is pretty kewl. Good luck!
  16. Lush has "fortunes" in a lot of their bath bombs. No need to laminate, just use waterproof ink. HTH
  17. I'd use the SAP for shea butter, but increase your superfat by 1%. I haven't been able to find a SAP value for it, either.
  18. Thanks, I've seen the lotion candle threads, I've just never seen a website actually encourage people to stick their hands in their (still burning?) candles - with levels of FO most likely too high to safely apply on the skin.
  19. Heh, wait 'til someone's kid burns down the house or lights themselves on fire because they saw mommy & daddy playing with candles. It doesn't even tell you to extinguish the flame first.
  20. Hey Top, you can advertise your lard candle as a lotion candle! What can be more emollient for dry skin than pig fat??
  21. http://www.coalcreekcandlecompany.com/TIPS%20&%20INFORMATION1.htm :lipsrseal Not only are they perpetuating the "triple load fragrance" crap, they are also ENCOURAGING people to stick their fingers into their candles and use it as a lotion. Since when was candle wax considered "vitamin-rich"???
  22. I should but it would probably be futile. 100% soy sells. Soy-veggie? Probably not so much. :undecided I should state that I have no problem with the wax itself. I used it when I first started making candles and liked it very much. My problem is with suppliers who perpetuate a fallacy.
