I am a stay at home mom of 2. I am trying to get back into making melts, possibly candles (if I have the patience and time!) and I would like to do lotions and soaps too.

  1. So, is it not the citronella scent that keeps that bugs away then? If it's not the scent, then what is it? I was going to make some citronella scented candles for outside, but if it's not that particular scent, maybe I won't, it doesn't smell nice... (Sorry to go off the original topic.....)

    storing melts

I've been making melts the last couple of days. Now I have quite a few in several different scents, and am not sure how to store them away. I remember from before not to store them in plastic because it sucks out the scent, right? So, what's a good way to store? Is there a plastic that is safe? Or should I keep them in like a small box? My husband is going to start getting annoyed with all the melts in the kitchen.
  3. Also, shipping can get expensive, so check out the suppliers that are close to you to see if they have what you want and need.
  4. Your candles look really good. I like those heart shape container candles. It that one Lovespell black? Or just a dark purple?
  5. The other day I ordered a few scents from KY, I got: Vanilla Butter Fudge Cinna-Vanilla Cherries & Chestnuts Jasmine Oatmeal Milk & Honey (had some bath products from a large company with this scent, and loved it, am so happy to find the oil!) Then...I started browsing the scent forum, and looked at Peak...oh no....I had to order a sample pack from them! I ordered: Amish Harvest Country Berry Hotcakes Strawberry Kiwi Raspberry Truffle (sounds so good!) Orange Chiffon Cake Spring Rain Wild Mountain Honey German Chocolate Cake Citronella Oh, I can't remember the last one, I guess it will be a surprise for me then! I'm thinking it might have been French Vanilla..but I'm not sure. I've tried the Amish Harvest the first time I was making candles and melts and loved it! I'm really excited about making them again, can't wait for my packages to arrive! I haven't tried any of the other scents I got, I wanted to get something new, so if you've tried them, what did you think?? (I will be using a soy/parafin blend)
  6. Yes, she said it is fine to use! Yay! Now I'll check out some fragrances to try out.
  7. Thanks for the replies. You know, I didn't even think about checking with the supplier....oh my....:embarasse I'll do that. I didn't really want to throw it away, but then I thought, if it's no good I didn't want to waste any fragrance oils on it...but again, I'd hate to waste wax that's good without trying it.
  8. Hi there, I'm new here. I used to make melts for a while in 2006. I stopped for a while when I got pregnant, and we moved. Recently, I found a box that hadn't been unpacked. There's 5 lbs of the KY para/soy blend flakes. I am wondering if it would still be good to use, or should I get new wax?
