  1. Have you decided on a host yet? I'm having Yahoo host my site and they have a great program for do-it-yourselfer's that you can use off line. That's what I'm in the process of doing. The basice hosting fee is about $30/mo. which includes a full e-commerce site & merchant tools.
  2. Yup, that's it. Found it. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16377 Thank you both.
  3. Does anyone know what happened to grandscentral.com? I haven't been able to log on to their site in a couple days. I keep getting "The page cannot be displayed"
  4. Bulk orders are absolutely the way to go once you figure out what you're going to be using. I would suggest trying smaller orders of different waxes first. It might cost a little more per pound at first but I'd rather be stuck with a 10# slab of wax that I didn't like than a full 50-60# case. I tried 4 different waxes before I settled on one and that was lucky. Some people on this board have gone through many more than that. I only do container candles so far but once I decide to go into pillars and votives, I'll be going through the whole process again. Good luck to you.
  5. Like Heather said, try to find the heavy stuff like wax near you. If you can pick it up, all the better. Wax, wicks, containers and other accessories will all be pretty comparable wherever you get them so price and shipping should be the main considerations. When it comes to FO, quality is the main concern. Everyone on this board will have their favorite suppliers and the list will become long. My personal preference is Just Scent followed by Peak. Also remember that what works for some people doesn't always mean it will work for you with your combination of wax, wick & FO. IMHO
  6. Don't hesitate to ask questions either. There are no stupid questions, just stupid people who ask them.
  7. Unless you have modified your Windows configuration (assuming you're using Windows - can't help you with Mac), this is the path where you'll want to save the fonts C:\WINDOWS\FONTS
  8. I have to recommend Photoshop Elements to do the graphic work. It's not expensive and it does everything you could want. As far as printing the labels, I use Avery's Design Pro 5. It's free here http://avery.com/us/Main?action=software.AverySoftwareDetail&catalogcode=WEB01&softwarecode=3200 and you can customize the labels as much as you want. For the labels themselves, I recommend www.planetlabel.com. They have a huge variety of shapes and sizes and great quality. Thier site is very easy to navigate too. HTH
  9. I've only tried their Pecan Sandies and Warm Vanilla Sugar. Both are great. You may also want to try http://grandscentral.com/ for reviews.
  10. When I think spa, I associate it with Aromatherapy. Here's a site that lists what scent combinations are supposed to be theraputic for different ailments. http://www.aromatherapyoutlet.com/Oil%20Guide.htm
  11. Not at all unless you start getting candle nose.
  12. I looked into Federal laws concerning labels and found out that the net weight and contact information has to be on the "primary label." Also, the net wt. needs to be a certain size depending on the size (or area) of the label. And, it needs to be separated by a certain distance from any other text depending on the size of the font required. The FULL address is required if the company is not listed in a phone directory. It's alot of boring legalese to read but here's the link: http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=ecfr;sid=ccf82b5f2a461d2b59ac31fef4a7b0f8;rgn=div5;view=text;node=16%3A1.0.1.5.56;idno=16;cc=ecfr#16:1.0.1.5.56.0.38.1
  13. Here's a thought that people who think it shouldn't look juvenile won't like. How about having her screaming the scent name (i.e. a bubble like you see in comic books)? This is coming from a man whose logo includes a teddy bear!
  14. I can barely see them because the pictures are way too small. Maybe you could make those small pictures into thumbnails that link to a larger picture when you click on them.
  15. Same thing goes for containers. Some waxes claim to be "single pour" but that's only under ideal circumstances. What that really means is that the wax will shrink less than if it weren't single pour. It's just something you'll have to learn to live with. Just remember that it's important (for pillars and containers) to poke relief holes. The candle can develop air pockets that you may not see. Also, when you do your re-pour, only pour to the lip of the first pour or you will see a seam if you pour too high.
  16. You'd be helpful too if someone were ordering $300 worth of product from you. Becky IS great though. She's helping me with a discounted price on 12 bottles of Ultimate Vanilla for a candle fundraiser, It's to benefit the fight against breast cancer that my wife is involved in. I will be posting more information about this soon.
  17. Photoshop Elements 3.0 It does much more than I will ever need and it's relatively inexpensive especially now that v4.0 is out.
  18. Thank you all for the ideas. I hadn't thought about the shipping being so much and it hadn't occured to me to look local. I guess I'm just in an "on-line" state of mind when it comes to looking for bulk supplies.
  19. Does anyone know where I could find small wicker baskets about 6x8x3? Also looking for things like colored cellophane and shredded crinkle paper for decoration.
  20. This is the only wax I use too. I've tried J50, J223 and WSP's Crafters Choice. This wax gives me the most vibrant colors and the hot/cold throw is out of this world. The vast majority of my FO's come from JS and a few from Peak and LS. I actually find it pretty easy to wick using CD wicks in 16oz mason jars. They mushroom some but very little, if any, soot.
  21. Haven't contacted them yet. They're only open Monday - Friday. I plan on calling them first thing Monday morning.
  22. Actually, I spell mine "Orange Vanilla.":p
