  1. I read so many positive reviews of this FO (from Peak) in the fragrance section that I'm now curious to try it. Does anyone sell this or would it be too "controversial"?
  2. I believe my container wax is MP 124 and my votive wax is MP 128. So, it should be comparable to yours.
  3. I never imagined pancakes could smell this good. Looks like I'll have to put this one on my ever-growing list to try.
  4. I managed to ship to Phoenix over the summer when it was 120 degrees there. The items arrived without any problem. I used priority mail (this is air mail which arrives within 2-3 days) and sent it on a Monday to make sure it wouldn't sit somewhere over a weekend. I also packed it with bubble wrap and peanuts, and they not only provide cushioning, but also insulation. Lastly, I sent it to their office instead of their home, so that it would be brought into an air conditioned place right away instead of baking of their porch for several hours until they got home from work.
  5. Yes, the flat rate boxes are very convenient. The one which is shaped like a shoe box works well for candles. The other one is more for stuff like t-shirts. If you are only sending a couple of candles, you wouldn't want to do the flat rate box though, in which case a regular priority mail box would do. I have an assortment of boxes, and find the best sizes are: FRB1 (the flat rate box), #4 (slightly smaller than FRB1), 1096L (suitable for 8-10 votives), and #7 (larger than FRB1). If you have an account setup with USPS, you can use it to order boxes for free and pay for your postage online. If you do not have an account with them (I don't), you can still order boxes for free and print your mailing label without postage online. I did not arrange for pickup because I live only a couple of blocks from the post office, but I think arranging for pickup should not be a problem.
  6. Oh okay, so there will be a votive blend coming. I might just have to get one of each to see which I like better for votives.
  7. For the over/under colored, over/under scented ones, I just use them myself. My house smells very nice due to all these candles, LOL.
  8. Thanks, Diamondk! You'll have to excuse my ignorance on pillars - I don't do those and didn't realize there wasn't a one pour for them. I might try their pillar blend for votives though, unless they have come up with their own custom votive blend by the time I order.
  9. Mailing them in envelopes (no matter how padded they are) is risky as they could get damaged during transit. Check out the USPS priority mail boxes that Brenna mentioned at www.usps.com - they come in different shapes and sizes and you should be able to find something to suit you. They also have flat rate ones which cost $7.70 to mail which can be a good deal if you have a lot of heavy stuff (their weight limit is 70 lbs which you won't ever reach if you are sending candles) going cross country.
  10. I get mine from Cierra Candles (www.cierracandles.com).
  11. Yeah, I wouldn't use the media mail either. If the post office thinks it's just books in there, they may throw the package, risking damage to its contents. If you're looking for a lower cost option and don't mind surface mail, then go for parcel post.
  12. Breanna or anyone who has used the pillar blend - What pour temp would you suggest for it? Is this a one pour also? I noticed their catalog said the pillar blend can be used for votives as well. Has anyone tried it for votives yet, and if so, how was it?
  13. You are not the odd one out, Sara. I am the same way, LOL.
  14. After reading this thread, I am now curious to try this scent! Has anyone sold it and if so, is it popular?
  15. You can get priority mail boxes for free at the post office, but if you are getting a lot (more than 1 or 2) they may not like it, in which case you can simply order it online (free also). When using the flat rate box, you will never get to their 70 lb limit, unless you're sending lead or gold, LOL. As Eugenia said, you should check both ways (regular priority and flat rate priority) before packing your shipment to see which method is more economical. The post office website has a rate chart. Generally, if you are sending to zones 2 or 3 and the package is 6 lbs or less, it's cheaper to use regular priority mail. If you're sending to zones 5 and above, the flat rate box is better if your package is at over 3 lbs.
  16. What pour temp do you use for their container wax, and is it really a one pour or did you need to top off later? Thanks for sharing, I appreciate the your advice as I plan on getting this too.
  17. It is my understanding that cello bags are made from polypropylene, while plastic bags are made from polyethylene. I prefer the cello/polypro bags. They are said to help your candles retain their scent much better than the other kind.
  18. Old Will Knott has good scales. I don't know his user ID on ebay but you can buy it directly from his website which is www.oldwillknott.com. You should get one which is accurate to 0.1 oz so that you can weigh your FOs accurately. Having to weigh 5 lbs of wax at a time is a minor inconvenience compared to not having accuracy to 0.1 oz.
  19. How about their Clean Cotton? It smells clean and fresh...and would be soapy if you use it in soap!
  20. My favorite is Cappuccino Hazelnut from Peak. It is nice and strong.
  21. Yes, I'd wait a while to see if the scent mellows out during curing. If you still don't like it then, you could rebatch it with an unscented batch to help lessen the smell, and maybe add a complementary scent like peppermint to help mask it.
  22. Ooh, I like your pumpkins! I think a hang tag would go perfectly. If your warning label at the bottom has extra room, you could put your contact info there as well, just in case they lose the hang tag and can't remember how to get in touch with you.
  23. That was how/why this whole topic got started. A request for free samples was received and we were trying to determine if it was legit or scam. I get my fair share of requests for free samples, and aside from the Nigerian orders, it is often hard to determine if they are just trying to get something for nothing, or if they are a genuine potential customer.
