  1. You didn't buy them yet did you bizzy? I just saw the post and I have a bunch of them that are sitting here doing nothing at all!! We used to do tub truffles year before last and we used two kinds of molds. The truffle type and the bon bon type - both! Hope you didn't order them yet! edited to say - DAYUM those little candles are flippin cute as all get out!
  2. I was actually just talking to a Bittersweet Candle rep that emailed me the today wanting to sell candles in my shop and she told me that it takes her 4 to 6 weeks to get her order when she places it!! She has to front all the money (cost and shipping/handling), then just sit and wait for the candles to come. Good news though, she is going to sell off the rest of her case and then sell my candles instead lol I told her that no way in hell I would take 4-6 weeks - holy cow, I told her more like place the order and wait 4 to 6 minutes while I put them in the box for you lol Sorry, the pour to order or made to order thing doesn't cut it for me with candles. I think the longer they sit the better they are.
  3. All you have to do is take a gander at this to show you how much of a rip off it is: http://www.downline.tv/cwealth/price_list.asp It is almost sickening to read through.
  4. I read a few posts on Google adwords while doing a search so I think I get the jist of it, but what I am wondering is how many of you actually use Google adwords and use the prepay option instead of the pay per click? How much is normal for a month? Do you find that if you put in X amount it runs out faster/slower? I am thinking about $25.00 a month to start - does that sound logical or is it a waste of money? Since the holidays are getting near, I would like to get some extra traffic on my site now, even if they are just coming to look (maybe they will toss me in their favorites come Xmas! ) So, I guess I'm not looking for BUYERS per se (I mean, I AM), but my main goal is to get traffic. If that makes any sense at all?
  5. Good Lord no, I would never sell candles from another place. I make my own, but I like to be educated on my competition no matter how stupid they are LOL MLM also creeps me out AJ!
  6. You can get their links by searching for the name of the business - they are listed everywhere. I wanted to actually see if I could find out how much their candles are, but they don't have prices on their websites - STRANGE
  7. Taken from one of the Marlo rep's sites (you won't believe this): edited to change color of quote
  8. Yeah I wish - then I could be home on Monday to start working again. I clearly have too much time on my hands these days (I'm sure alot of you would agree!)
  9. I don't have any names, but Wild Country is the cologne my dad uses from Avon *lol* and Cabin In The Woods is a shop here in Utica! Small world - just wanted to say that lol
  10. I have never paid for successful advertising and I've done it all. Paper, magazine, radio, telephone, you name it - I've spent the money on it! Nothing does better for business than word of mouth and in order to get that you need to "spread yourself out" first, then offer great customer service and quality products - then they will beat down your door. I would be interested to see if anyone has had any success with some of the advertising companies online however. I do have a few accounts that actually hired PR companies (locally) and they have gotten their products into magazines and on tv networks like HGTV, E!, TLC, etc - but they really spent a pretty penny!!
  11. Good Lord, where are they all coming from? lol The thing that really burns my toast is that they flat out lie to get their reps. I mean what kind of business can you run that is based on lies?? I feel for these poor ladies, they don't know, they just hope they are going to become rich, because that is what these people practically promise them! You know, I've actually seen posts for all of these places and not one of them are trying to sell candles - they are all trying to get everyone to join them. It kinda creeps me out - like a new candle cult or something LMAO
  12. www.bizhosting.com Is what I used when I first started out because it was so easy and that is why I stayed with them too. It's more of a cut and paste type of site instead of all the html stuff (that I have no clue about), they have tons of storage (4+ years and I'm still not even close to filling the memory with pics!), you have many different choices for payment options and you can change it any time you want. Oh, and I've never had mine go down once. edited to add - There is also a 24 hour help line that you can talk to people anytime with bizhosting - not so with DIY. (You may want to do a search on DIY stores too before you make a decision. I know there are/were alot that deal/dealt with DIY and still do/don't. It's your money, spend it wisely )
  13. Oh this is so looking bad, the more I look into it. No labels so the "customers can see the product better" is the excuse these poor reps are using to defend the labeless products. This makes me so sad - these poor ladies haven't even gotten their orders yet & they are already standing up for this company. I'm sorry, but a bottle of lotion or a candle jar with no label is not going to go over good.
  14. Have you noticed? Well, nothing is coming up for Bittersweet Candles, but I have another company I wanted to know if anyone has heard of: http://www.sweetcupcakecandles.com/ This website says started in August 2006 and they already have 1,000 consultants nationwide. I also did some further researching and found some women that are consultants, but guess what? They have no product yet, nor do they know if their candles will even have labels on them, but every one of them are gung ho on recruiting others to sell as well as touting their wares on several boards I have frequented. Anybody got any news on 'em?
  15. Great site for glitter: www.betweenfriendstoo.com
  16. I've seen sugar scrubs that were oil based and when the water hit them they foamed up - is that what you mean? I am not sure of a definite recipe, but I know there is baking soda and citric acid in there. You have to be really careful formulating something like that though, otherwise you could have exploding jars all over the place (and that's no fun!)
  17. Definitely with Beverly on this one - get yourself an accountant, that way you know it will be done right & it will be a great load off your mind!
  18. Here are some links to advertising topics in the past that may help you out too: http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32113&highlight=advertising http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31062&highlight=advertising It is still in your profile, that is probably what she meant by having the ebay store.
  19. Did you decide to go through with it? I was searching for something and found this post. How are you doing Funky?
  20. Don't let 'em get to you - follow your normal way of doing orders and if they don't get back to you in a reasonable time, delete the order and don't think about it again. Spend your time on orders & customers that do pay PS - Oh yes, people ARE that bored lol
  21. I find that if you use the lower setting and really take your time it won't break, but it takes alot of extra time and practice. I can't shrinkwrap to save my life - that is why I have my sister do it lol
  22. yeah I knew it was something weird like that lol My sister said that there was so many people - honestly she hasn't seen that many even in the summertime and the Dells are packed in the summer. She was really surprised. I personally think that fall weather brings out all the shoppers in the midwest - we seem to love the cold (well, not ME, I hate it lol)
  23. Best part about vistaprint is that you can actually make your brochure on another program and upload it to vistaprint for high quality brochures. (then you don't get stuck with what they have)
