classiccandle
Does anyone use tins for their sugar or salt scrubs? Would the tin rusting from the oils be a concern? I emailed SKS asking about the rust but they gave me the generic, "We don't test any of our items for specific uses, blah, blah, blah" so I thought I'd ask here. Thanks!Russ
number2of7
We once used their much smaller tins for our solid perfumes -- over half of the scents rusted within a few weeks (switched to plastic). I wouldn't recommend using tins for scrubs.
classiccandle
Thanks 2of7! That's what I was afraid of. I'll either use plastic or glass then.
HorseScentS
Candle Science says their tins have a special varnish coating inside to prevent rusting and discoloration.
TallTayl
Candle Science says their tins have a special varnish coating inside to prevent rusting and discoloration.I use those. They work well for candles - even those with components that traditionally discolor. I'd not choose them for scrubs where the particles could nick the coating. Rust is not something I'd risk in B&B products when so many other, better packaging alternatives are readily available.
soapbuddy
My tins discolored the product and the top brim got brown. It could have been rust. I threw them away.
bells4shells
My rule of thumb is no metal for products that could be naturally introduced to water (i.e. bath products). I haven't experimented with CS tins though, but still...I think I'd still keep to my rule.
Kitn
I wouldn't use tins for anything kept near the tub or that could have water on it or in it.
