SuzyK
I have read a ton of room spray threads and couldn't find the answer.I am using NG's Odor Eliminator Spray. The FO is separating quite a bit on them. Some of the FO's settle on the bottom and some settle on the top. Is that a problem? Am I doing something wrong?A simple shake and it's fine but I don't like the way it looks. I'm going to have to get non clear bottles. MaggieMay
I use Polysorbate 20Recommended Usage:Blend together 2 parts Polysorbate 20 to 1 part Essential Oil or Oil Soluble Fragrance. Add to the rest of your ingredients.HTH's Here is some information on Poly 20Polysorbate 20 is naturally derived from Lauric Acid (coconut oil) and is a commonly used emulsifiers of essential oils and oil soluble fragrances. By mixing your essential oils or oil soluble fragrance with Polysorbate 20 before adding to your water based products it will minimize product clouding and pull the essential oil or fragrance throughout the product instead of floating on top. Great for use in water based room sprays, linen sprays, body sprays, shampoos, body washes, bath and shower gels etc. Hugs Maggie Edited August 30, 2012 by MaggieMay
SuzyK
Thanks. So blend that with my fragrance oil before adding it to the base? One of the ingredients in the base is Polysorbate 20.
TallTayl
Are you adding FO within the recommended percentages for the base?Is it with all FO's or just one.
SuzyK
I am pretty sure I am adding it in the recommended percentage. Maybe I am doing too much. The first ones I made didn't have this problem. These ones I added a little more FO and they are pretty much all separating. Alright, I just checked and I may have added 1 ml too much to each one. Lorelei
I've been using this for a couple of years. You will find that not every oil will mix regardless of the amount you put in. If you try the poly...can you let me know? I now just used colored bottles.
mzphee
I use this base also, and I do have that problem, I thought that's just how it was so on my label I advertise shake, point, and spray. I would love to know if there's another way
SuzyK
Maybe I will get some poly just to see if that will help. I put on the label shake before use. I am going to buy colored bottles so it doesn't show. The spray works great though
Lorelei
This annoyance is secondary to the greatness of this spray!
SuzyK
Yes! I am loving it!! I think once I have it in different bottles, it won't bother me.
thompsontraditions
I think this just happens with some fos regardless. I use aluminum bottles and add instructions to shake well on the label.
SuzyK
Thanks. That's what I intend to do. I did put to shake well on the label. I had an open house at my house and sold quite a few. Nobody seemed bothered by the fact that the FO had separated.
Sharon in KY
This annoyance is secondary to the greatness of this spray! Really? This spray is a lot better than others? I have tried a bunch and make my own but none have thrilled me. I'll have to order some.
