ChandlerWicks
Does anyone use NGs Wow or Joy Wax? Just recently started testing these two. TIA!
Ravens
Last time i tried them both was around 5 months ago. I prefer Joy over WOW.

Ravens
You're welcome! How's the testing going?
EccoLights
We have used the Joy Wax too and loved it! One pour, nice creamy tops and sides, good burn... No complaints here at all with it! HTH!
ChandlerWicks
Thanks EL! Testing is going very well. Both wick easily, cut like butter, dyes come out very dark & rich looking. Testing between the 2 to see which has the stronger HT. Joy has the stronger CT so far.
se2653
I've liked the Joy wax too. What wicks are you using? I've used zincs with good luck....
ChandlerWicks
Cd 7s & 8s in the 12oz status jars. So far so good. They do get mushroom wings, but everything else is going so well I'll take those.
EccoLights
We use the zinc's in the Joy and have great results too... Depending on the FO used we do get those little wings here and there but nothing bad enough to go changing things =) Have been tossing around testing some of the CD's tho too. Good luck in your testing!
ChandlerWicks
I've tried CCs TigerLily & Cantaloupe in different waxes. This is the 1st time I've gotten a good, strong HT. Joy wax in a tart burner is lasting more then 24 hours. I'm kicking myself for not trying her waxes when I 1st started, since she's so close. Ravens
Don't feel too bad, at least it looks like you may have found a wax you like and can work with.:smiley2:I too have had great success with zinc wicks and the Joywax. Not crazy about WOW; Joy has better throw, in my opinion.
ChandlerWicks
It's between these 2 & CBL125. I think the Joy does have better ct & ht, but bigger mushrooms.

ChandlerWicks
Good to hear!!!!! Would you mind sharing which type of wicks you use? The Cds have been doing well, but trying Zincs after reading everyone likes those.I love the joy wax have used it for yrs.
se2653
bumping this thread- how has your testing gone with Joy wax? Have you ever used the Pillar of Bliss wax? (I know, someone stop me, but I can't help researching other waxes- looking for a blend for tarts!). I used Joy wax in containers before- I did like the throw, and noticed that it burned slowly, the candle lasted longer than other candles)-
ChandlerWicks
I gave up awhile back! I think I'm going to work with palm & soy for now. Tired of dealing with disappointing results.
se2653
I know what you mean!! I'm testing about 5 different tart blends... I want to choose one and go with it.. good luck with palm and soy!
Chefmom
I tried Joy wax early on, it was the smell of the wax that threw me off. I would make a candle with a floral scent and when I smelled the candle, or it was burning I would smell, flowers, and donuts.I did a year as a midnight donut fryer and so I stood over the donut vat a LOT. And when I filled the vat with fresh shortening, it had a distinctive smell. As soon as I opened my first slab of joy wax, well, it smelled exactly like the donut shortening! No matter what fragrance I used, I still could smell donuts. The best candle I made was joy wax and Mrs Claus' Cookies. That paired quite well.I quickly switched to 6006 and am happy with that one. No donuts!
se2653
(maybe that's why I liked Joy wax before, I really like donuts!! I do like the bakery scents. I don't recall that smell with that wax, I have a little left over- will check...
doglvr
I think I tried Joy wax once, but isn't it way too soft for tarts? Are you adding anything to harden it up?Thanks!
