  1. I think many here are not "picking" on you at all, but due to your first post and question it does lead me (and probably others) to believe you are selling candles that you have not tested at all... I am aware that different scents can take special care in the same wax another scent works perfectly in, but before any thought of "selling" a candle or even giving them away is done, we test... and test... and test again. Something it seems that wasn't done here. I do wish you the best of luck in all you do.
  2. I've seen this done so many times it's hard to count anymore... Simply watermark your photos (via the post above here) or use a photo editing software to do it. As for this person, don't bother posting (well it is good therapy tho), just report the picture to Facebook and let them take care of it... The sad fact is, for every one person you find doing this, there are probably 6 more you haven't found yet...
  3. Same as many here, our tests are 1 cube out of a clamshell and goal is 10 - 12+ hours. If I did the 2oz portions cups (which I have in the past), I would shoot for 20+ hours for that minimum.
  4. I've used them now for business cards, brochures and banners and can't say enough good about them! Awesome prices and great quality compared to vista
  5. The best part is, when I search those terms... they are nowhere on the first page See how well that worked out for them LOL
  6. Yup that's an SEO trick that is so out dated it will actually hurt them in the long run... TIP: When doing your on-page SEO, you only want about 15% - 20% keyword "relevance" to your meta keywords. I'd love to know who this is so I could look at their meta keywords tho and see how stuffed those are too OTHER TIP: You only want about 5 - 7 meta keywords for your SEO on each page.
  7. Again, we only carry that one blackberry so I have never really looked for one... but dang if you're not right! Lots of blends of blackberry but very few plain blackberry scents... Seems the simple scents are the hardest to find at times... Good luck!
  8. Oh the joys of being able to play... now it's just work, work, work... Anywho, from my experience it doesn't go bad per say. I've had a bit for over a year now as well and have done things here and there and it worked just fine. On the wicking tho, be sure to wick up from what you think you should use... That stuff has such a high melt point you will need the heat IMO. As for fragrance it does have to be "compatible" with gel wax and for coloring we just used our regular candle dyes (liquid). Hope that helps and do note, we do not do gel candles at all for our store.. just for fun so if I said something wrong.. don't poke me with a stick!
  9. The only blackberry we even carry is NG's Blackberry Sage and it's on the upper half on our sales list. Does very well in parasoy tarts and soy candles for us as well.
  10. Oh you forgot they were PURE soy so no soot, no carcinogens and it even saves puppies too!
  11. I'm not a huge fan of the Bunny Burps either but some do enjoy it... Same with the Bacon, I personally say it smells more like the Bacon-Strips for the dogs, but others smell it and yell "Wow, it really is bacon!". It's all subjective IMO but the novelty of it sells it alone most of the times...
  12. This type of thing doesn't ever surprise me anymore... Let them exaggerate... in a few months they won't even be around to remember...
  13. Monkey Farts, Butt Naked, Bite Me, Bacon, Chipotle(sp) Salsa, Beer... they all are IMO novelty scents but some are actually very good. NG is our supplier of choice and I can attest to the Monkey Farts, Butt Naked and Bite Me (and even Bacon) being some of our best sellers for quite some time now. I do think the name sells them most of the times but once they are opened and smelled... the scent sells the best
  14. You can see my thoughts on WSP in many other threads about this same exact topic.... Over priced, rude service, don't care about nothing but the $$$... I've got more but I'll bite my tongue here and let things work out the way they will...
  15. I have heard the GoDaddy hosting + Zen Cart complaint about a million and two times now. If you have the correct hosting you would have no problems with it... (EDITED TO INCLUDE THE "CORRECT" HOSTING) = To answer the OP's question, get your domain from where ever you wish. It's going to run around $5 - $12 per year for it... not a big cost... Hosting is where you get into a monthly cost. You can either use a free host (such as Weebly or Wix) **I've used both and Weebly was the better of the two IMO. ****CORRECT HOSTING**** Do NOT get the "Windows" hosting, get the "Linux" hosting to make Zen Cart and just about ANY other "installed" shopping cart to work better. Now if you're willing to pay a few bucks a month, go with GoDaddy's Economy Hosting which runs around $3 - $5 per month, install Zen Cart and you have a shop. I've used Magneto, Wordpress, OsCommerce, NopCommerce and a few others... they all work the same really... it's just who has the best support IMO.. Zen Cart has been around for many years and has a very active community (just check their forums). Along with GoDaddy which has been around for some years and offers 24/7 support for when you screw things up (which you will... I know I did about a dozen times). Good luck in your adventure... for it is truly an adventure!
  16. I can say with our old company we had some candles we made and we burned them recently and smelled great! Even on cold sniff they were good. That was about 6 years ago now. Now on the other hand I noticed recently our Blueberry Muffin candles started to discolor a bit and it's only been maybe a year on that one candle. All others were fine so totally unsure as of why this happened but could have been the FO? Who knows... Hope that helps you some
  17. Well to just kill your idea we carry currently 247 different scents :/ Now we have been at this for years now and just opened a store as well, so the more the merrier As for in each category, lord only knows LOL Some fit into 2 or 3 different "types". I always say, just do what your comfortable with and roll with it. Good luck in the new year!
  18. Just thought I would chime in here for those that are freaking out over Wal Mart's tarts & warmers... Now speaking for myself here of course, when someone comes in talking about the Wal Mart brand of tarts that just opens up the conversation of "Ours are handmade by us, can you go to Wal Mart and talk to the maker?" Nope, they sure can't... Can they also go to Wal Mart and ask for a specific scent and have them make it... Nope again.. Does Wal Mart support local businesses by buying locally? Nope to that too... There are so many come backs when approached by Wal Mart shoppers... but having tested a few of the tarts there... I'll even admit, some are good.. some are horrible.. as with any of us, we have our good ones and we have our not so good ones... Just take this chance to educate your customer and show them why they should be supporting you and not a multi national, multi billion dollar company that is pure evil...
  19. We have done them in the past, the 1 & 2 ounce cups. We charged $1.00 for the 1 ounce and $2.00 for the 2. As for a name, we just called them scent shots Hope that helps some and good luck!
  20. Generally when you do a consignment you are leaving your items in a retail store and when sold you get a percentage. I've seen this vary from 20% to 50%, it just depends. Personally I hate doing consignments... If they are interested in carrying your products and have a business already, they know how wholesale works... Take your cost of your items, times it by 2 (x2) and that is your wholesale cost... Add $0.25 or so for your "other" expenses of course but as long as they will double their money... they tend to be happy with that. Just putting myself in your shoes in moving, I think I would try to find a retail shop to carry your items or start promoting a website (if you have one) so your local's can still order from you... Obviously the retail shop would be the best choice IMO.... Good luck in your venture!
  21. Personally I love this question. While I think it is just a ploy to make people think "theirs" is better than yours... When asked this (or heck, any question at all), I take the chance to educate our customers... after all, an educated customer is a happy customer is a return customer
  22. While this is disturbing, it's not surprising to me at all. In the world today it's not about quality to most... it's about (as you mentioned), the all mighty dollar... So make it simple for this store & the maker... Shell out the $ and buy one and try it... Best case, it's a good burning candle, worst case, it burns down you house and then you can sue both of them and buy the store and carry your own stuff I've approached a few places like this and it's always about the bottom line OR "Oh they are friends of ours".. I still buy one just to keep up on our competition
  23. David the SMS marketing is another route I'll be looking into soon enough but thankfully I know a guy that knows a guy that does that stuff So it should work out As for the churches, I'll be stopping by today to talk with a few of them and yes, the gift baskets for the raffles or silent auctions is a great idea too Thank you both for your thoughts!!
  24. I have to say too those are some great colors you got there! Great job!!
