asheebeans Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I'm torn between selling my Upland slab (with cutlines) or my Kelsei. I love the qualities of the Kelsei but hate the puny bars it makes. My Upland makes the size bars I want, but less of them and I can never get my corners just so on the soap......so I end up losing a bar or two because of wonky corners. I hate that! Just a little poll, which one would you sell off? I know for sure at this point I am keeping my Upland log and my round Upland.....you would have to pry those out of my cold hands at this point! I'm still experimenting with my round Upland & I'm stubborn, I WILL get some pretty soap out of it! LOL Quote
TallTayl Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I got rid of my Kelsei. The bar size didn't fit with my other soaps. Plus it was a total PITA to pour perfectly evenly and to remove the dividers. If it didn't gel exactly right the sides/corners got messy. My slab mold doubles as my block mold (no cut lines). The versatility is nice. Standardization really helps with production and a cohesive look. Quote
CareBear Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 (edited) I got one of these: http://www.soap-making-resource.com/slab-soap-molds.htmlIt's like a Kelsei+ - divider mold with right sized bars and a silicone liner without those annoying lines that fits perfectly. asheebeans Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 Thanks CareBear!! How are these molds when it comes time to remove the soap? Do you use the heat or freeze method that they state on the website? This is really the size I am looking for--thanks for the link!! Quote
JanetsCandles Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Instant thought: If you get rid of the Kelsei, get something to replace it. If you just get rid of it, you'll probably do what I tend to... Get into a project then think to yourself "Now why the heck did I ever throw ____ away?" Quote
chuck_35550 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 One question for CB. I notice that the mold is only 1 1/2 inches deep. Will the mold accomodate more soap or is that filling it up to the brim? TIASteve Quote
chuck_35550 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I guess I should have said, CareBear instead of CB. I was curious as as to the total depth of your new mold.Steve Quote
