blacktieaffair
I hope posting this is ok! First off , a quick run down on how it went today. I walked in, and the lady up front was on the phone. She "nodded" at me and smiled. I looked around, for about an hour, and no one said a word to me. Now, please note, everyone that walked through there, smiled and nodded, and were "available" if I needed them, but no one stood over me or hounded me and I LOVED THAT! I went through almost every scent they had, took notes, looked around at everything they had displayed for sell, and just generally took another hour looking, sniffing again, writing notes and making plans. When I did go up for my order, the lady at the front was extremely helpful, got me the info I needed concerning a wax issue and was just so pleasant to deal with. No joke, by the time she hit "send" on the printer for my order to go back, I did not have time to walk outside, light a cigarette and take a drag off of it before a young man walked my stuff out the front door to me!!! Talk about FAST SERVICE! The order wasn't "hard" but it would have had him running from one end of the warehouse to the other and he was so lightening fast I was laughing!EDITED : Yall, Im so sorry for the way the folling posts formatted. It looks like I have no clue what a spacebar is! Sorry because some of it is annoying to read Blame it on Open Office ! I'll put my opinions of the FOs I sniffed in the following comments.Hope this helps someone. I know it def has given me something to think about. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my suppliers dearly , but if I can get a ton of FOs from 36 miles from my front door, instead of having shipping from across the country .... wellllllllllllllll .... blacktieaffair
Almond : Not like I expected, was good, but sweet. Not almond / amaretto sweet. Amazon : Please do not ask me todescribe this because it worried me to pieces and I can't come upwith anything as far as what's in it but, its a sexy, slightlymasculine, earthy scent. If you like unusual, this is it. I love itpersonally but then again, I do like odd ball scents LOLAmish Harvest : Nice, well rounded.Rustic yet airy (I wont say light cause it had a powerful smell)could place pumpkin, cloves, hay, berries and some cinnamonApple Jack and Peel : Nice, stoutscent. Should do well in wax. It's as nice a AJP as I've smelledApple Strudel: Very impressed. Defsmelled baked apples and the flaky crust with a tad cinnamon, notoverpowering cinn like some. I have to carry a ton of bakery scents, and I think Im going to really like this one because its more of aTRUE bakery scent. You aren't choked down with a sugar smell.April Fresh Downy Type: This was nice, smells just like Downy EXCEPT its not as strong as Clothesline. If Ihad to choose, I'd use Clothesline and back off of it if I had to.Autumn Leaves : Very nice , woodsy, dark, wet, touch of moss and oak with wet fallen leaves. Baked Apple Pie : Really good, not toomuch cinnamon, loved that, could smell crust .Bamboo : I'm going to test this andpray it works in wax, I adore this stuff. I love air/earth/ozonescents and manly scents and this one takes it all and has some greennotes in it to round it out. Very clean.Barn Wood: I'll be adding thishopefully. I have tons of wood type scents and this one is totallydifferent from anything I have. Cedar, Pine, Oak is what I picked upon top , couldn't place bottom notes but I love it.Bayberry : STRONG! Very nice but if itacts in wax like it did OOB, ½ to 2/3 oz is all you'd needBest Friends : This is one they arediscontinuing but if you want to run limited runs of something thiswould be good for spring and summer. Light, airy, would really dowell in BnB if its skin safe.Bird of Paradise : So much fruit, solittle time! It was good, oob was stout.Black Cherry : Smells just like blackcherry. It was nice but it was exactly what I expected it to smelllike, which is GOOD ! No surprises. Just strongBlackberry : Ok I need someone else toget some of this and try it or review it cause I swear it smelledlike grapes to me. Wasn't expecting that.Blackberry Sage: I was getting thisfrom Alabaster/Community Candle in Alabama but I will be getting itfrom Aztec if it works out. Smells like what I've been using and ifit is, wow its a hot seller for me ! One note though, OOB it didsmell just a smidgeon sweeter than what I've used but thats oob andwe all know how that goes too.Brown Sugar Figs BBW : I've neversmelled it from BBW so I can't compare it as a dupe, but it wassweeter than I myself imagined, but it was very nice. Would do goodin BnB and Candles both
pleasureridgecandles
Glad you had an awesome experience.... I knew you would!!! Now lets see those oob reviews....Edited to add... I have the Brown Sugar & Fig and it's dead on. This was one of my fav scents from B&BW till I started making my own Edited December 12, 2011 by pleasureridgecandles
blacktieaffair
Im going to condense these : Bubble Gum, Pink Sugar, Cotton Candy,Candy Corn, Candy Apple, Green Apple, Cinnamon, Cinnamon Apple, LoveSpell all smell EXACTLY like I've smelled from both BCN and CandleScience. GOOD STUFF going on OOB. Very strong oob and hopefully itwill work out. I was actually surprised at how close cotton candywas. Chocolate Brownie : I liked it, and itwas good OOB , but I smelled more chocolate, than I did brownie, ifthat makes sense....Cinnamon Vanilla : Going to test thisone. When I saw it I was like uh that doesn't go together. WRONG!Depending on how it does, I might add a touch more vanilla to it.Will have to see, but you could definitely pick up both notes.Cinnamon was stronger.Christmas Cookies : Wasn't what I wasexpecting but I couldn't figure out what it smelled like. It was avery light scent.Clean Cotton : This was nice, it was alittle sweet like the Clean Cotton body wash Suave used to have thatI adored.Clothesline: I will definitely buy thisover April Fresh Downy. I just like WOW scents and this one kickslike a mule!Clove : dead on clove smell. Will makea fantastic mixer but straight? Shew it was mega powerful industrialstrong oob so be careful ! Lol Cocktails on the Beach ( discontinued )I smelled this and came THIS close to picking up a couple of bottles.Fruity, a little bit of fizzy undertone, and has a middle note Ican't place but it makes it round out to an actual cocktail drink. Not alcohol smell but you can definitely tell the difference in thisand some that are so mega sweet it gives you a toothache!Cool Citrus Basil and Coconut LimeVerbena : They were nice but not as powerful as some I've smelled butremember, this is OOB and that all changes when the heat hits it! Ifyou want to do BnB with these scents that would be great. Ipersonally love CLV but its too strong for me normally, I'd like itthis medium strength.Cool Water: Smells like the cologne. Was well rounded. Im not the best at descriptions if yall couldn'ttell by now but its light and airy with a punch. It's not quite asstrong as I've smelled but it would be worth getting a sample andtesting.Cozy Cabin : Cedar, Pine, Smoke. I havea Log Cabin from another supplier I love dearly, this is totallydifferent but just as nice. The smoke isn't heavy in it, and its avery light hickory smell. I am very finicky about anything with Pinein it, and I would burn this all day long. Very nice.Cucumber Mint ( discontinued) This isa light scent, but worth a try even if they are discontinuing it. Iwill be putting it in BnB ( lotion and mp ) . Will be wonderful forthis summer in an aloe vera cool body mist.
jeanie353
Apple Strudel: Very impressed. Would you be so kind to report on the HT on this one. I can't find an apple pie type scent that is strong. Looking for apples, little spices and crust to all come out in the blend.OOPS....Just realized you sniffed these not purchased them...sorry.TIA Edited December 12, 2011 by jeanie353
blacktieaffair
Duck Farts : Well, now I know what aduck fart supposedly smells like LOL. Had a very strong Grape smellwith various berries thrown in for good measure. Was extremely“sweet” smelling.Egyptian Musk : This was an odd duck soto speak but I myself really love it. It doesn't have a patchoullismell but its very mysterious, I did pick up notes of amber in it.Fireside : It was nice, but more sweetthan I'd expected. Cloves, apple, hickory, and vanilla I think.Fresh Cut Grass : I've been meaning topick this up from one of my normal suppliers but haven't. Wow, thisstuff really does smell just like fresh cut grass! I kept going backto it to see if I'd pick up some odd note, but nope, was dead on ! Fresh Squeezed Oranges : It did smelllike orange juice, but the q tip they had in the bottle was dried outso Im hoping that's what made the scent “light”. Honey Crisp Apple : ( discontinued) Idebated on telling yall about this because I loved it SO much Ipicked up 2 lbs ! I love my Oatmeal Milk and Honey I get from BC, andI love a good Mac Apple. This is a perfect blend of honey and apples. Japanese Cherry Blossom : I had HIGHhopes for this, but OOB it smells absolutely nothing like BBW JCBbecause all I wear is that and one by DK. Im still going to get someand put it in wax, but OOB I was disappointed and it seemed extremely“light” to even go in lotion or soap. I'll get some after thefirst of the year and test it and let yall know. Kentucky Bourbon : I did not smell ANYbourbon in it whatsoever, it was extremely sweet smelling. I have anApple and Maple Bourbon from Candle Science and definitely get thebourbon in it. Not this. Again, this is OOB and I will eventuallytest this one. Lavender : Had to pick some of this uptoday for an order and I was extremely pleased that this is a TRUElavender scent that has had a tiny touch of sweet put it in it, butyou definitely get that “green bite” note underneath it. Lemon Eucalyptus : Loved this one! Bestof both world, you pick up each note individually but the Eucalyptuskeeps the lemon from being too sweet or too tart, and the lemon tonesdown the bad medicine smell of Eucalyptus. This will be a fantasticBnB or aromatherapy scent. Mistletoe Kisses : This could very wellbe a new addition to my next years Christmas line. It's a combinationof so many things I can't explain it but get a sample, I dont thinkyou'd be disappointed. Monkey Farts : Smells identical to theMonkey Farts I get from Candle Science and BCN. Very nice, veryfruity. I liked the fact that even with all that in it I still canpick up each individual fruit. Good blend. Oak Moss : This made me a VERY VERYhappy lady. I have just recently fallen totally in love with Oak Mossfrom BCN and this is a dead on ringer for it! I could give you thedescription that BCN has but to me? It smells like a high end, verysexy man's cologne with just a tad of a powdery bottom note to giveit more of a unisex scent. Love love LOVE this stuff. Oatmeal and Honey: I did like this, smells like it should. To me its a tad bit lighter than what I use
blacktieaffair
already. I will be trying it in waxcause ya can't go off of oob Oreo Cookie : It smells like an Oreo ! Smoke Eliminator : Had a fuel note toit that hit me before anything else did, so I can't give it a realdescription. Squirrely Nut : Candybee asked if thiswas anything like vanilla hazelnut. Absolutely not! Mix togetherblueberries, blackberries, pecans, acorns and you have Squirrely Nut! Sugar Cookie : By the time I got to theS's you can imagine I was sniffed out. All my notes say on this is “Good/Cinn” , so if I wrote down cinnamon, its got a strong cinnamonscent to it along with the sugar cookie smell. To me? It smelled morelike a Snickerdoodle cause it had so much cinnamon in it. Sugared Spruce : This was at thecheckout counter and I sniffed it there while waiting. It had asugary coating on top of a very nice pine. I was actually surprised Iliked it a lot but it was really nice ! Winter Candy Apple BBW type : Haven'tsmelled the BBW so can't compare to that but this was nice , butlight. Picked up the melted sugar and slight Mac Apple on it. Note : If it has cranberry orpomegranate in the title, I loved it. I have some extra specialscents of these already but I was truly impressed with anything Aztechad with those two scents whether straight on in a combo. Spellkast
Thanks so much! I've been wavering back and forth on ordering from them since I've had such crappy experiences lately with FO suppliers....but if you loved them that much, I'll have to order some of these!!! Thanks again!!!
blacktieaffair
Spellkast, please remember these are OOB reviews. I am by NO means any where near as experienced as most that post on these boards, but I have tested very close to 400 scents in the last three years or so, give or take. Judging from the many suppliers I've used , on an OOB level, thats how I came up with the reviews on these. I wish I could tell you they will all work wonderfully in any wax, gel, or BnB product you put them in but I have no idea.. but I know Im going to be ordering LOTS AND LOTS of things to test from there so I can compare it to the scents I already carry, and if these stack up, Im switching due to shipping alone ! But, having said that, I truly love the FOs I carry now, so these have got to be just as good or better before I switch ! Losing customers because I switched to something that was cheaper to get, doesn't equal saving on shipping to me ! Not about to alienate clients for that ! Alajane
Just wanted to throw in a comment from a chandler I've met recently at a show we both do every month. She lives in Tennessee and says she buys everything from Aztec. She's extremely happy with both their service and their products. I'm definitely planning to do some testing from them after the crazy season is over because everything I sniffed in her booth smelled good.
