EccoLights
Just saw this on wikihow's site for wicking tapers...Paper towels, tissues, and toilet paper can be torn into small strips, which can be twisted together (very tightly) and braided into progressively larger pieces to make a wick.Well toilet paper as a wick??? Candle making is so easy! :laugh2:http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Basic-Taper-Candles
marcuset
Here I'm wasting my time messing around with all these wicks - & toilet paper was the solution all along?:embarasse
deb426
Maybe you could make the taper out of ear wax. But maybe that's more of a container wax. Never mind. :-)
rjdaines
I've got some old T-shirts I could tear into strips, I won't use the underarm sections...
EccoLights
But this does make you think don't it... We get alot of new candle makers here that probably read this and thought "Oh how easy, I can do that" and then when it fails horribly, they come to us LOL =) Next thing you know they will say you can use the cotton string on those "feminine" products too LMAO! btw, Ear Wax = NEXT BIG THING! Pam W
btw, Ear Wax = NEXT BIG THING!Totally renewable source and fits in with the green movement too.
rjdaines
Too funny, this thread brought me my morning smile. I suppose if one were in a survival situation knowing that twisted or braided TP can be used as a wick might be useful if one had a fuel source. Pam W
Paper core wicks = twisted paper towelsCotton core wicks = tampon strings citronella bug repellant candle = pour into a 3lb coffee can and use two tampons for the wick - you'll need two for the depth of the coffee can so staple the ends together - do not use duct tape cause it will kill the burn. EricofAZ
I believe this wick is the proper and tested wicking for molotov coctails.
