learning reverse applique

I saw reverse applique sweatshirts on Etsy and they were so pretty but I couldn't afford them. So I thought I'd try making my own. Here are my first two tries:

Does anyone make these? I'm rather nervous about washing them as I'm afraid they'll unravel.

I have seen shirts with that type of appliqué a few times just never got around to trying it.

Those look great suds! As long as you used a short stitch length you should be fine.

I ran the orange one through the washer and dryer and it turned out fine
