trisha
I have been using zinc wicks in my 8oz jj. I want to try coreless but don't know where to start. I'm using J50 right now and my wicks are mushrooming badly. What is the best coreless to use?
SatinDucky
I guess I'm showing my ignorance, but other than braided, I don't know which are coreless :tiptoe:
jennhalcyon
I use the CD wicks myself, and I like them very much. They are quite popular, as are the LX and HTP.
Garf
If you already have zinc wire core wick, it is possible to remove the wire. Just heat the section of wick and pull out the wire. I do it all the time. WARNING, the wick will then act like the next size up wick with a higher flame.

trisha
I'm not positive, but I'm guessing the diameter is around 3" It is a basic jj

topofmurrayhill
Trisha, lots of suppliers sell sample packs of wicks in different sizes. That's what you really need to get. Regardless of any guideline you read, it's a shot in the dark to just buy one size of wick. Even one FO versus another can change the size you need. The sample packs cost more per wick but it's a good value because you pay for shipping just once and can be confident the wick you need is in there somewhere. Once you get familiar with the sizes you need most often you can buy those individually.

I guess what I don't realize is that there is a process of getting there. Guess that's why I've been married Twice:confused:
