It a color wheel useful? I see these and wonder if it is something I would use?

I've actually thought about getting one myself. It's a pain to go through and experiment with color to get as close to a specific one, only to happen across another and not remembering how you got it to begin with.

If you don't know how to mix colors, then by all means get one....even a simple one can help. They are cheap and when you look them it makes sense. My son is an artist and laughs at me.....he just KNOWS exactly what to mix to get what he is looking for. Just little things make a world of difference. Things that you wouldn't have thought of without knowing how the color wheel works. Can't fool mother nature...LOL Donita

Just remember though that how translucent or opaque the wax is will make a difference on what the color will turn out to be. But the color wheel should give you a general idea.

I used to swear by my color wheel. Now I'm pretty confident with mixing that I don't use it at all. Michael has them for .99 cents - 5 bucks.

Cheap investment for something that can be really usefull.

A color wheel is a great help but you need to keep notes every time you mix color.

I use index cards in an index file box with dividers. I write the amount of wax used then the scent at top of the card then under that the type of wax then the color formula.

ie:

1# Love Spell Lavender

Votive Wax

Red Drops-1

Blue Drops-1

As an example

Also remember that some scents, that are dark in color, will effect the final color.

Just choose what type of color you like to use such as liquid, chips, blocks etc.

Also there is alot of helpfull info on the web if you are color callanged.
