Ruina
I've just finished curing my 1st salt bars. I'm ready to give some to friends to try but I have no idea what to tell them. Are there benefits to this type of soap? Any input would be appreciated.
janiece
I never really figured out how to explain them or what their selling points would be. The more I thought about it, I decided my customer base wouldn't buy them anyway so that saved me from any more thinking.
IndulgentCreations
Basically I tell me clients they have the same affect on the skin as swimming in the ocean. Some people's skin reacts very well to higher salt content (softer water) and many say it's helped to smooth out combination skin issues. It has a more lotion like lather, very small bubbles but very creamy. They are not exfoliating but become smooth like a polished stone. Your people that try salt bars and like them will swear by them. I've never had anyone not like them but some prefer my regular bars. They sell very well for me in my area and I get $1.00-$1.50 more per bar than I do for my regular soaps. HTH
Ruina
Thank you April. Do you tell them about the stinging that may happen if they have a cut or nick? Or am I the only one that happened to?Do you all put a note or caution about this on the label?
Darbla
I would tell customers they are known to help with breakouts, like some people with oilier skin get on their backs.

MissMary
Couple of those are medical claims. Put "is said to" in front.
Tall Blonde
I call mine Spa Bars. I do explain that salt can sting and it's not for everyone. I don't go into any explanation about what it may do for skin. I just say it's like a water softener and when I wash with it my skin feels softer. SOAPFREAK
I put a warning to not use near cuts or open wounds. I also put on the front, "*Good for acne and body odor" With the asterisk, on the back as the reference I put that "*These statements have not been evaluated by the Food & Drug Adm. blah, blah, blah......I don't find them to be exfoliating at all. After the first use, it's as smooth as a polished stone.
Ruina
Thank you all for your input. They definitely help. I've got to get my thoughts together on this. I haven't yet started working on the labels and already I'm getting a headache
