  1. What's your name? Janiece How old are you? 63 but think of myself as much younger Where do you live? central Illinois How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever? 20+ years, I think How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever? I was bored one day and looking online for something new to learn about. I tried M&P and that just wasn’t what I was looking for. I started making HP and then went to CP. Are you married? Any kids? widowed, currently one furbaby If candle/Soap making isn't your primary job, what do you do? Public Affairs for a corporation Anything else we should know? I’m a treasure hunter - metal detecting, digging for diamonds or crystals, or whatever adventure my poor old broken body can handle. Right now looking for money in the washing machine is my speed. I buy and sell antique & vintage items.
  2. I've used it in powdered form and it made wonderful soap. I handled it just like any other milk and it all went well. I wish I could get some more; my dog got the bag of powder down and ate it all! I wasn't happy but it was my fault for not putting it in the freezer. If anyone finds a source for more, please let me know.
  3. I never really figured out how to explain them or what their selling points would be. The more I thought about it, I decided my customer base wouldn't buy them anyway so that saved me from any more thinking.
  4. Thank you for all your help! Cedarwood and lavender sounds really nice too. I'm working on an EO blend with peru balsam and cedarwood but I wanted something for wax too. Now I have some good suggestions to check out.
  5. You might check on eBay. I got some nice clear stair step type displays a couple of years ago and they weren't too expensive either.
  6. For some reason I am crazing the scent blend of vanilla and cedarwood. Does anyone have any FOs they can recommend to satisfy the craving? Thank for your help!
  7. This looks very nice! Thank you for sharing it with us.
  8. thank you for sharing your recipe! This looks like one I will try!
  9. I usually mix the colorants with a bit of oil and then stick blend them with the soap I want to color. Or if I'm coloring a whole batch, sometimes I've been known to mix the ultramarines with my goatsmilk powder and its corresponding water because I stick blend that too and then it's one less step and one less container.
  10. Oooh! Good for you! I haven't tried my hand at layers yet but I have some layered batches planned.
  11. I have several Kelsei slab molds that I like a lot. I like the shape of my bars from the Kelseis, too. I like to color with powders - mica, oxides, UMs. I use some liquids too, but I prefer the powders.
  12. Without sandalwood and patch the only thing that came to mind immediately was the strawberry incense that seemed to be so popular. Have to say though that I really like the MJ and brownie idea!
  13. Hello! This is my first post here! I just started making tarts - I'm too intimidated to start testing candles yet. This weekend I made tarts in sandalwood vanilla, baby powder, water blossom & ivy, and bergamot mandarin. I'm having a great time and loving burning my own tarts.
