grandmaskitchen
Hi all! It's been quite awhile since I posted here, but I do visit quite often. My question concerns IGI 4761. I just recently purchased some in slab form, but am having a very hard time cutting it and was wondering how some of you do it. I just seem to be making a huge mess with it and could really use some help. Thanks!
SatinDucky
I usually use an old pillowcase and drop it on the concrete floor of the garage. If I'm trying for certain sized chunks, I score it deep with a knife then use a large chisel and hammer
grandmaskitchen
Thanks for the help, Satin. I just got my husband to hammer the crap out of it and broke it into smaller pieces. He's got more strength than I do!
Circle
If you put it into a bag or box at an angle and smack in the middle with a hammer it will break in half easily, you then do the same with the halves and quarters. Hardly any mess and any serious bashing needed
SatinDucky
Ahh, but the serious bashing can be a great stress reliever
Donita
I have a large box that I cut down to about 4"....then put a piece of wood in the bottom....not exactly fitting...just a piece of wood. Smack the wax with a hammer and it breaks easily...then just keep on smacking that person you don't like (smile) Donita
