Dana Mae
Can it be successfully single wicked? Or do most of you double wick this jar?Thank you!dana
jenniejr
It all depends on the wax, FO, additives and wicks you are using. The best thing you could do is try it for yourself and see what works for you. Testing is what this "game" is all about! hth
Dana Mae
Yeah, I know testing is what it is all about. I am, and have been testing. That is all I do, test test test. I didn't post my wax, fo, etc. because was not asking for someone to tell me what wick to use.I was just asking if anyone had accomplished this, in any wax. For example, I am having more success single wicking this jar in my GG than in my 4627. (Not successful, to my satisfaction, but moreso). This is a bigger diameter jar than I am used to using. I don't want to continue wasting my time trying to single wick if most people who use this type of jar find it needs double wicking in most applications.Sorry I was not more clear.....and thank you for your input.dana :embarasse
ReneeM
We JUST started testing this jar, but we're having good luck with the single wick. My wax (C3), on the other hand, is being a pita right now no matter what jar i'm using.
Dana Mae
Thanks Renee for your input! Glad to hear the single wick is working out for you! dana

ChrisR
In my soy/paraffin blend, depending on the FO, I can single wick the 12 oz. Status with an LX24 or LX26. Heavier FO's I usually use (2) LX10's.
Dana Mae
Well at least I know with some waxes/wicks it can be done I will test a few more before I resort to double wicking! Thanks to all to replied! :highfive:dana
ReneeM
I don't think double wicking would be an issue Dana. In all honestly, I would be afraid to double wick this jar. The glass is pretty thin on them. Good luck!!!
Brenda (OH)
I have successfully used a 51-32-18z in the past with the parasoy wax I use. Heavier oils I would use either a 51-36-18z or a 60-44-18z. I agree that double wicking may get too hot, but that is my opinion using parasoy. I also found in my testing that wicking for the bottom of the jar is best, a little hang up with catch up later. ChrisR
Actually double wicking with (2) LX10's does not get my jars any hotter than 1 bigger wick. I use the Libbey status jars and they are thicker than the metros sold by others.
Dana Mae
Thanks for input also I have a few more singles to try before I start testing double wicks. Not sure if my jars are libby....they don't say they are. Anyhoo.....thanks for letting me know what is working for you!dana
2rottndogs
I use cdn 20's most of the time in my status jars with c3...once in awhile I have to wick up, but not often. These jars are very capable of being wicked with just one wick.HTH.Kimberly
