candleessence
Hi everyone! Could you tell me what type of wicks & size ya'll are using for your votives. Every wick I've tried has a very small flame was the votive gets going. If it doesn't do it w/ pillars then how come votives?
SheilaW
I use LX-12 or 14 in mine.
SatinDucky
Try cotton core, 36C. That is the only kind that would burn my Astor Q votives.
Paulette
I use RRD29 or 34 Most of the time the 29 works
joyofsoycandle
how long do you have to cure these little buggers lol i know some scents take longer, but in general it seems this wax takes forever to cure!!
SatinDucky
I was told 2 to 3 weeks. I've only made a couple batches. Just for playing around. I just put them up for a while. Remembered about a month later...lol

candleessence
Thank you everyone! I have tried all these wicks believe it or not. But after reading your posts, I have one of my votive holders on the desk & realized that it flares @ the top & maybe that is why after the votive begins to liquify the flame goes to almost nothing. I bought a votive from a popular palm candle maker & it did the same thing (after inspecting the wick I believe it was a paper core they used) so I think I will try another type of votive holder and see what happends. Thanks again everyone!
DoLLz
The flowerpot votive holders are not very palm friendly. I noticed that when I tested with the flowerpot or any other flared top votive holder, the flame would nearly die out as the wax blows out the side of the votive. The best holder for a palm votive would be a tight fitting straight sided holder. I personally prefer to use the status votive holder. With wicks, I have had the best luck with RRD34 and HTP83. I use the HTP83 since I have a whole spool of it. HTH

I pulled 1/2 doz votives & put them in straight "regular" votive holders & Voila! wicking problem fixed They burned perfectly! Now I can keep what little hair on my head I have left Thanks again everyone!
DoLLz
which wicks did you finally settle on ?
candleessence
I had a few different FO's and used RRD's. I used either a 29 or 34 and one or the other worked great. No puny flames after the votive started liquifying. Who knew that the shape of a votive holder could effect the votive that much!
