sassy906
I have a container which was bought for me a long time ago, I have burnt all of the wax and was trying to get the wick tab out, but, it will not. I have tried prying it, nail polish remover and even sticky remover with no success. This candle wick is in a ceramic container. It does not look like tape or hot glue. I really want to refill this. Any suggestions:confused:
grama
Maybe the heat gun:confused:
Vio
Try goo gone? It's a remover that works well on a lot of stuff. Removes labels well, and gum, can remove pen even. Might work?
Patience
I have heated wick tabs w/ my heat gun, then pulled them off w/ a pliers.
logcabinmomma
When I need to get one off, I run a fingernail around it just under the tab and then either push the neck of the tab sideways as hard as I can or pry it up with a spoon.-Kristi
Sharon in KY
I bought a candle one time and the wick tab would not come off. It didn't have any of the glue types we use. After trying every chemical known to man and don't even ask. But it looked like some kind of very thin glue, you could hardly see it, I had no luck had to throw it away. Didn't have any Goo Gone then so maybe you're in luck.
sassy906
Thank you all for the advise. So far I have tried everything including goo gone, prying it, every chemical I have in my house. I will try the heat gun next. I really want to refill it:(
kandlekrazy
Desolv-it may work..it is similar to goo gone but I find for some things it works better. I'd put some in the bottom and let it sit about 5 mins and then try prying it up. If they used a contact type cement you may never get it off. gmp
Have you tried soaking it in mineral oil? Just a thought.
sudsnwicks
I usually use a pair of pliers. Have you tried that?
DonC
I had one of my customers give me a container to refill for them and I had the same problem with the old wick tab.Out came my trusty ole Dremmel Tool with the smallest grinding tool I had and PRESTO...........it was gone in less than a minute!!! The lightweight aluminum was no match for my tool and was easy to remove. If you don't have one, I will bet one of your crafter friends does!
