bac
Hello all,I'm debating switching from 1343 to 4045. I've had fingernailing with the 1343 and really don't want to deal with it. Has anyone had experience with fingernailing in the 4045? Also, I've read that the 4045 mottles. I'm not interested in that. Anyway to get rid of the mottling? Any other wax suggestions? THanks!Bianela
Scented
Any wax CAN fingernail. It's not a property born unto one wax. Mottling -- don't want it, add vybar to kill it. A universal additive ought to kill it too.
Beth-VT
Love the 4045H way better than the 1343, has a better FO load IMO. But it definitely mottles.
topofmurrayhill
Adding more of whatever additive you're using may eliminate the fingernailing. You might also want to avoid cooling too slowly.
Scent Cellar
What percent of fragrance oil is the max for the 4045H without using additives?
topofmurrayhill
What percent of fragrance oil is the max for the 4045H without using additives? There's no sharp line. Depends on the FO you're using and how well you like your pillars to burn. I'd suggest keeping it to 3%. Candlewic says 3-5%.

Henryk
I seem to get less of a bulge with 4045 - and I LOVE the mottling it does. The 4144 is simmilar but not a mottling wax. I don't see any difference in transparency either - at least in the slabs I have.
Donita
I haven't been able to test every single wax, but so far, my favorites are 4045 and 4045H. I get a bulge with 1343 and don't with the 4045's. I had no problem with wicking them, they held the scent just fine. Most of the time I use some stearic acid. Helps with lots of my issues. I know that any wax can fingernail, but I have only had it happen a couple of times...Donita
