8-GRAN-ONES Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 It seems that alot of the fruity, pineapple, tropical FO's are really hard to get that does not have that fuel smell..Does everyone have that happen to them, or is it just me.. Quote
Kelly Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 I've heard that this can happen, but it hasn't happened to me yet. *knock on wood* Quote
tangerine Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Yes it can happen. Some suggest adding a bit of vanilla FO to the citrus scents to get rid of the fuel smell. Quote
Candlebuddy Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 It's not just you ... it happens to many ... however, some just don't have the nose for fuel and cannot smell it. I agree, adding a bit of vanilla cuts the fuel, also cutting back on the amount of fo you add can help, you can also try wicking down. Quote
homecomfort Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 In my experiences I've found that the wax seems to have an impact also. I've just recently been testing Lemon Bundt Cake fo from Bittercreek and found that it had a strong "plastic melting" scent in the EcoSoya waxes (I mean strong!), but did not have that same scent with the paraffin or EL waxes.Just my two cents. NewOrleansLady Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I just tested JS's Lemon Bundt Cake and it has NO fuel at all. It's has a great throw in my 50/50. Really awesome scent. Quote
Tizimarezie Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I get an incredibly awesome aroma from Cranberry Marmalade FO in my wickless candles and tarts. But in a wicked candle, it has a chemical smell. I use the same wax in my wickless as I do my wicked candles. I noticed that if I wick down, the chemical smell isn't quite so strong. Quote
