I read an old thread that suggested KY Glow Wax - is this just for the grubby type candles? can it also be used for a smooth electric flameless mold?and do fos work well with this type of candle? do you need to add any additives to make the fos work better?Thanks so very much for your time..... erinmfritz Posted June 3, 2007 Share Posted June 3, 2007 I can't answer all your questions but I did just get some of the KYglow wax. I was told by KY that this wax can not be scented. There is no additives in it to make it hold the fo. She also said that if you put the additives in, it will not glow as well. You may get more responses in the general candle section too. Good luck. graywritingdog Posted June 3, 2007 Share Posted June 3, 2007 I don't make "real" candles only the electric ones, so I don't know all the wax types or the additives. But I will tell you what I use. I just use a standard high melt paraffin wax. I some vybar to make it hold more sent and in my opion the wax just looks better with it in it. I melt, add my additives, color then add scent, stir, let cool and pour into my silicone mold.Let them harden up good before you unmold them. I still have a hard time doing that!Some times I melt just paraffin wax with the additive (no color) and use it as a dip to give my candles an iced look.I scent my wax and I also give the buyer an option to purchase a 1oz refresher oil at $3.00. People really love them. Also don't forget to put useage labels and warning labels!Do not use outside or around water.Do not leave it on more the XX number of hours.Be sure to add a "use" label on the oils. I add a sticker to the oil bottle "To apply dip q-tip into oil, rub on the inside of the candle not on bulb"And...replace bulb with a 5w silicone bulb. Do you offer both 3" and 4" sizes?Would you mind telling me where you purchase your cords and bulbs? and also your warning labels - do you make your own? and the refresher oil - is that just the pure fo that you scented with?I'm sorry I have so many questions - I'm excited about trying them and appreciate your kindness - thank you so much for your time!!! graywritingdog Posted June 4, 2007 Share Posted June 4, 2007 I don't have a smooth sided mold. I have a primitve line of stuff and to me it was alittle more modern for my taste. Although I do think they would be neat to use for photo and embeds.I like the 4" size. I think any smaller and people would balk at paying $25.00 a piece for them. That is what I charge.I get my cords and bulbs from ebay off of a very nice lady. I will pay on friday and I will have my things on Monday! She is so quick!fawnzydingo Here's a link to her stuff!I make my own warning labels as I couldn't find a place that did electric candle warnings. I put them on the bottem of the candle pan and then on the package I put "please read all directions/warning on bottom of pan".I use my FO in the refresher oil bottles. I hope this helps.
