pebby01
i've been burning this candle for a few days and just noticed a hole next to the wick. i wonder how this happened? maybe somehow this area didn't get filled when i did the repour? if you look right under the wick, you can see the depression where the hole is. it didn't come out very visible in the picture, though. by the way, it's scented blueberry muffin
Candlelovr
That looks like a spot where the repour wax didnt make it in. I always poke 4 holes, at the top, bottom and both sides of the wick. Ive never had that happen. HTH
gerrie
Looks like an air pocket. Did you poke your relief holes? If so how many did you poke?
pebby01
i think i poked 2 holes. i'll try for more next time. thanks for the help!
Candle Man
That would be a air pocket. Air pockets form in and around the wick or wick pin, when the wax cools. You need to poke more relief holes and further down the pillar, but not so far as to hit the mold.BTW - Try a larger wick and see if you get a better melt pool, Blueberry Muffin has vanilla in it which needs a bigger wick. cindym
I poke probably 4 times before doing my repour, especially when doing rustics in layers. 4 pokes around the wick area 3 or 4 times works for me.
NewOrleansLady
I don't pour pillars but if I let the fan hit too close after my 2nd pour on the votives I'll get a air pocket next to the wick...but on the votive I can usually see the bubble and hit it with the heat gun to get rid of it.
