sudsnwicks
It is probably because our FOs smell so good. I was at the Rite Aid the other day and decided to check out the jar candles. It was a 3.25 oz size, selling for $4.09, lilac scent. Eww! It smelled just like insecticide.
Snapdragon2
Hey Dallas Texas Dean,I know exactly what you mean in this post! Have you ever tried CCneroli & cedar? I absolutely love it! I use J223, usually double wick htp,and I get an awesome throw, pretty quickly too. It's very unique and woodsy. Oh I am an addict too....but my addiction is "the search". I keep buying FOs for wax trying to find something I am pleased with...to no avail. Maybe it doesn't exist. My fragrance addiction started years ago with Colognes (where it remains today when I admit it)What is that definition for insanity? Something about doing the same thing over and over expecting different results?oh I think that there are FOs that smell nice. Some that even smell great...but very rarely (almost never) do they throw as well as I would like....and very rarely are the fragrances as "different' as I would like for them to be. KWIM?I know the "fruits" throw better than most others. I don't like fruits. I know that there is a HUGE selection of Bakery out there. I don't like Bakery. ( and to me, MANY of them smell rather similar..thinking that there are maybe 10 notes, tops, that are used over and over in different variations)I won't get started on the florals....although I will say they do a fairly decent job of manufacturing florals that are "almost" there...IF and only IF you find the right ones. Ever got a rose or a jasmine that wasn't the right one? LOL PeeeeUUUThe "dupes" are usually a disappointment, or have been for me with men's fragrances. They just do not smell like the fragrance they are trying to dupe.I would almost like them better as stand alone fragrances on their own without saying they are a dupe of something they aren't.So, any of you addicts out there that can point me in a direction where I will find FOs so fabulous that I will want more of them, I would appreciate it!I love the earthy..woodsy(my faves)...greens....spas...oceans....GOOD florals..NO: Blueberry- caramel waffle creme whip strudel with toasted coconut pecan sauce with a splash of Grand Pa's trip to Starbucks Hazelnut Latte Bean, please. SoapDiva
I think for me its the "what can I do with it and how will it smell" factor. My husband dosen't know it yet, but I have 5 more FOs coming in the mail.
candlesprite7
But, do you then fill up a whole online shopping cart & then quickly log off thier site, for fear that you might hit that paypal button & actually send a payment/order for tons more FO's that you truly shouldn't be buying? But you just spent the past hour clicking through all those descriptions & filling up your virtual shopping cart? Did I just admit that outloud?LMAO I do this all the time, you should see the lists I have on my desk.,...Dh always asks when i am actually going to order this stuff but I am afraid if i spend the money I'll need it the next day for something more important. beau's mama
What a supportative place this is! It's very comforting to know that we are not alone I am guilty of almost everything everyone has stated...boy, do those samples get you...and get you good! What I find myself doing from time to time is going in the basement in the storage room where I keep the FO's, actually sitting down, opening & sniffing them...one after the other LOL. It's like a little slice of heaven knowing I have so many beautiful fragrances at my disposal!DH caught me one day and I lied :embarasse ...told him I was trying to see which ones I wanted to soap with that day Now I do it when he's at work...my little secret! But I trust you guy's not to tell him:DBut, I am trying to get a handle on it...I'm really trying to let go of some...so I can get more OT is gonna looove when I break out!Sharon
TartAddict
I'm also guilty! My dh has been complaining...our pantry keeps getting smaller and smaller, LOL! I have waaaayyyy more FO than I'll ever use...yet I keep ordering more. FOCD...I've got it
mountainmadness
IMO- unless you make candles, which I don't, those 1-2oz. of FO are totally worthless. I will normally order 8 oz. if it is a new one for me to try. Towards the end of the year I will not order more FO untill I have used all of my stock. It cleans out for the following year and offers a lot of different scents for the Christmas shows.I always give my FO freebie samples to my 7 yr old daughter. She does M&P while I am soaping and has all of her supplies in a rubbermaid.... After reading this thread maybe I am creating a monster. Hope
What do you do when you run out of cash?? Feel free to add to the suggestions so that we may all cope, LOL1. Call the fragrance supplier and exclaim that they forgot a bottle..err..or two; in the order (joking)2. Sell stuff on EBAY to support the habit.3. Find a sugar daddy/babe....4. Panhandle with a pour pot.
TexasBrat
Since I have had all my sins out on the shelves yesterday and today dh has yet to comment on the fact that I have WAY to many. And, little does he know I have two more shipments coming. The sample sizes are good for me since I need them to test in batches of soap. I bought quite a few fo's in lbs from places only to realize I didnt like it in soap or b&b so I go with samples first and then re-order later in large containers. CBE
I have FOCD too. OMG... I thought I was all alone in this world. LOL Hubby keeps telling me... "You have too much, Donna." LOL It is a very real addiction!! I too, am always searching for the perfect fragrance. I have found a couple that I adore. One scent that I am really addicted to is Coast Type fragrance oil from Save on Scents. I swear... this is awesome. Very strong. I add this to my Body Cream I make, and let me tell you... OMG!! It's awesome. Smells just like Coast soap. Clean and Fresh. I make the dry oil body spritz too in this. I'm selling this scent like CRAZY. People go GA-GA over it!! This makes an awesome scent in a shampoo also. And the scent stays on you... all day. Yes, I'm addicted. Maybe someone needs to come up with a Fragrance Oils Anonymous...lol.... My hubby would be driving me to meetings. ROTF LMAO
Late Night
Okay, since it's fess up time, does anyone take the FO bottles out of the box and put them away, and then come back and smell the box? And then smell the packing slip? I don't!

I have been a scent junkie all my life. Now I am just in hog heaven. Friends go nuts because I say smell this, and smell it and then I say no you didn't. You have to smell it all the way in so you can smell all the notes top middle bottom LOL Yep just make me a candle with this scent will ya. I just have to let him sniff on his own so I don't accidentally get some on his nose. They burn!
