katinka
Reading this forum has made me want to try CP soaping. So I used the lye calculator on soapcalc.com after reading several threads. My question is: can I round off grams to the closest gram when it gives me a fraction as long as it still adds up to the total batch weight? Example:Water 344.73 grams to 345Lye 138.57 grams to 139Thanks!Katinka
CareBear
Just do the best you can. Even if it's off a few points from your total batch size it really doesn't matter. When soaping I tend to round down the lye (cause I'm slightly paranoid) but the general rule is up if it's .5 or greater, down if it's .49 or less. Either way, as long as you have a superfat built into your calculations it won't matter.
RobinInOR
SAP values are averages anyway, so as long as you aren't working with one pound batches, you'll be fine. I too always round up on the oils and water, down on the lye.
Crafty1_AJ
I round up on oils, down on water and lye. You should be fine as long as you have a decent superfat (say 5%) -- just as the other folks posted! Happy soaping!
Scented
I always round down on the lye numbers, but up on everything else. Might have to give that rounding down on water number a try.

Just waiting for my oils to arrive and also ordered about 12 oils from Solas that I intend to use for this (all your fault, might I add!!!).Hopefully will be able to post pics soon!Katinka:grin2:
