Creative/Interesting Tart Molds

Recommended Posts

Actually, my friend called me the other day and said Walmart had some silicone molds that would be good for tarts. I only bought one. It's probably about the size of a cake pan and has 24 heart-shaped cavities. They also had 2 that were different kinds of leaves, one that looked just like tarts, Christmas trees, pumpkins, and I don't remember what the other one was. Anyway, this was a couple of weeks ago, but you could probably get them online. Another place you might check would be Wilton's website. I know they have a few silicone molds. Also check out Scottcrew for molds. You can just google the name.

I doubt the links will work but here are a few places that sell silicone molds.

http://www.flexiblemolds.com I bought off of them before on ebay, they were selling the ones that had slight imperfections cheap on ebay. But on their site they have the good ones.

http://www.rosecandles.com/molds_silicone.htm I have bought from them before and really liked the molds.

http://www.candlesandsupplies.com I was looking on their site and they have gingerbread men molds.

Ebay also has really nice tart molds.

And you could also look at your local hobby store (Michaels) or wherever and use the baking pans. I've used the heart pans, for tarts before and the candy making molds for tarts.

HTH,

Mindy :)

I found a candy company back east that actually makes the molds that Scott Crew sells, and they were only $1.25 for each sheet. Minimum of $30 I think though. looks like their website changed - its http://ebinternet.tripod.com - they're in Rhode Island. If you're looking for little plastic sized molds in all kinds of shapes...

You can even use the ones that are for suckers, just plug the hole for the stick with some mold putty.

They've also got some great box forms too - I did boxes out of scented wax until I ruined the molds, they were pretty popular.

I use different shapes cookie cutters.

OMG! It amazes me on how dumb I can be sometimes! Thats an awesome idea. Here I am searching allover for star and moon shaped tart molds when I have a box full of those kinds of cookie cutters! That would be so much easier too. Thanks! You've made my day!:grin2:

I charge the same for regular shaped tarts as I do for decorative tarts..I find my decorative tarts sell much better..I did multi colored leaves, put a legend on the bag and solds literally pounds and pounds of them..another place to find some cute silicone or cookie cutter molds are William Sonoma and Martha by Mail..I just purchased a set of carousel horses cookie cutters from Martha By Mail and they're just fabulous..

Would you mind sharing how you would make tarts with cookie cutters. Do you pour a reallly thick layer of scented wax onto a cookie sheet/tray and then just cut out the shapes?

You got it!! Just don't pour it too thick cause you 'll have a hard time getting the cutter off it!!
