ladysj
What would be a good oil to substitute for this? I want to try a bath syrup and it calls for TRO? I don't have any and don't really want to buy any lol I have SAO, Macadamia Nut, Grapeseed, Olive, FCO and Wheatgerm.
sudsy
I don't know a good sub for that. Turkey red is used because it is miscible in water.
Jillybean
I actually don't know any substitute - like the pp said TRO is dispersible in water - something other oils just dont do!Jill
CareBear
You can use cyclo, I believe. I cannot stand TRO in bath oils cause I cannot seem to cover the odor!
ladysj
Thank you I thought I remembered reading that stuff stinks lol I will try a small batch with the cyclo.
Bunny
You can use cyclo, I believe. I cannot stand TRO in bath oils cause I cannot seem to cover the odor!Absolutely not. Cyclo is is silicone, and covers and protects, where tro works like an emulisifier to make oils water soluable. I'd try polysorbate 80 if you have some, otherwise, what you have listed isn't comparable.
Ann M
I can't stand TRO and have made bath syrup with SAO and Polysorbate 80. Just use a 50-50 mixture of SAO and Poly 80 for the amount of TRO. It worked just fine. You can also use Peg oils. I have a Macadamia Peg oil, but have not tried it out yet. I did buy it to use instead of TRO. THe motor oil smell of TRO makes me sick.Ann
sudsy
I totally forgot about the PEG oils. I also have PEG mac oil and have used it in bath bombs. It's great stuff.

I keep them in the same cupboard so sometimes I think cyclo when I mean PS80. I have used PS80 and I like it a lot.Geez, I am so sorry for my mis-post. What a moron I am. (I do like cyclo in other things for the skin protectant qualities - like using a "dry oil")

RobinInOR
The PEG stands for polyethylene glycol. Normal oils are reacted with that and one of the benefits is they are water dispersible, like the TRO. There's lots of different kinds, a nice buy usually spendier alternative to oil + PS80 or PS60. ladysj
All is have is PS20 and I'm sure that won't work. Guess I'll check into to getting some PS80. Thanks everyone.
