DanaE
I just wanted to thank all that people that said "Plumber's Putty" over and over until it actually stuck in my head and I purchased some.It works significantly better than mold sealant, is much cheaper, and I didn't have the problem of long strings of stretchy stuff when I was unmolding my pillars this morning. It sealed those molds perfectly. I made a special trip to Home Depot just to buy it, and it was worth the gas and the drive. So thanks again.DanaE
Lolas Lights
I love the plumber's putty also. It really seals the mold great, and with my seamless ones I can get them level and centered using a wick pin, which I couldn't do using the mold sealer. Dee
Like the plumbers putty because its white and the other mold sealers always left some yuckky grey residue when I use wick pins.
SteveinPA
Plumber's putty is all I use, and it can be reused many times. I keep using the same blob on each wick pin until it starts to harden, then it gets thrown away. Haven't had any leaks yet.
maryann
OK I'm going to be the "dumb one" and ask to have this explained (there's got to be at least one more person out there saying "What ?? what do they mean?") (this will do as I can't find the red faced embarrassed guy).
maryann
I just reread the thread and now understand that the putty is used to keep the wick pin in place . I saw sealant and was thinking something else.
Candlelady4ever
Maryann, I think they are talking about pillar molds.Plumber putty can be used to seal around the wick or wick pin that goes into the mold so the wax won`t leak out.
