Scented
Tell us how you really feel And I thought I was the most cynical person on the board lol.LOL! The question was advice I've heard Thought I would pass that on But the thought of being cynical ... hmmm....
wookie130
I'm a soy chandler, and the two best things I could advise someone on are:*Heat gun!!!!and *Cure for at least a week...better to wait two! (Even if you have a fragrance that's strong right after pouring/setting up...you won't believe the difference it makes to wait the couple of weeks for the first burn!!!) Luci
I think one of the most helpful things I've heard is to switch out wicks in one tester jar, rather than making 5 jars with 5 different wicks. If one doesn't work pluck it out and put in a different type of wick, then smooth out the top with a heat gun to get a fresh start. Many thanks to the pro that posted that one~HillaryI agree with Hillary. Can't believe how long it took me to get the nerve to ask about containers. I thought you guys were talking only about pillars all this time!
sharyl55
Test and record everything - and I do mean everything. Wax, additives, dyes, FO, wicks (did you twist, how did you twist), wax temp, room temp, water bath temp. And the list goes on. It all really does make a difference when you try to replicate a candle. This was the 1st tip I got from the various boards I was reading and was probably the most important. As far as an Ah Ha moment probably twisting wicks.

Braveheart
No matter how good the hot wax might smell, never take a drink from the container you just poured. Also a heat gun might really might come in handy.
Dee
Using the "angle iron" concept for levelling and testing how level my pillars are after using my home made one with a tiny level. Makes the burns soooo much better.

mommy2xp
Don't put all your eggs in one basket. I got all my oils and wax from one vendor, and got bad batch of soy wax a few years ago. I thought it would ruin me, BUT I retested a new wax and spread my scents from several different places. We have all seen a few come and go over the years.
