Demenshia Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 My mom and I decided to give them a try The color is a bit off in the pic but just wanted to show em off a bit Quote
Accents Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Oh, how pretty! I don't think I've seen ornie pictures before, thought they would be thinner for some reason. I really like them! Quote
Demenshia Posted August 5, 2006 Author Posted August 5, 2006 Hehe usually they would be thinner, but with the highs lately above 100F we thought we'd rather be on the safer side Quote
Candle Makin Momma Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Normally they would be half if not less of that size. Did you put a nail in to make the hole? I had a heck of a time adding the hole later! LMAOThose are gorgeous! I wish I could make them, but the smoke they give off irriates my asthma Quote
Demenshia Posted August 5, 2006 Author Posted August 5, 2006 Yes we used a nail while they were baking... Ours didn't smoke when we took them out... Though we did use different scents for each one so the smells mixing together kinda got to me a bit lol. Thanks for the compliments Quote
TartAddict Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Very pretty I make mine thinner and haven't had a problem with them melting (it was 122 in my van the other day!!!). It's also easy to use a leather punch to punch the holes after they're done Great job!D Quote
CaliZona Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Those look great! Makes me wanna give them a try! Quote
Doneen Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Lookin good The pink one looks extra sparkly. Did you use glitter or mica in that one? I've done them with both and they look kewl. Quote
hawaiiansun Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Looks real good. I need to get me that ribbon mold. Quote
Grumpy Girl Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 Those are cute. I hate making these things. They rate up there with bath bombs for me. Works of the Devil I tell you. Quote
jessicamarie Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 thoes are so pretty!!!! you can use glitter in candles???? ive seen them on the outside of pillars but none inside of them! Quote
victoriaj Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 These are really nice. I would really like to make some of these- especially at christmas time. But i live in Britain and aroma bead are not avialable here and i dont think it would be cost effective to import some from the USA.Does anyone know if you could do some thing similar using just pillar wax. Thanks Quote
Doneen Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I know some people make decorative ornaments out of beeswax. I'm sure you can get that in your area, so maybe that might be worth a try Quote
jennifer Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Did you add liquid color to the beads also or just colored mica powder? I've been making and selling a few of these and absolutely loved the effect of the mica in yours. Quote
Demenshia Posted August 9, 2006 Author Posted August 9, 2006 I used candle dye mixed into the FO to color them, then after I put them in the cookie cutters I lightly dabbed mica powder on them. HTH Thanks again everyone for the wonderful compliments. Quote
Aspencreek Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 They look great to me, something I need to try soon. Quote
wvcandlecrazy Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Those are really awesome, I think the mica adds alot to them, makes them shimmer in the sunshine!! Nice touch!Sue Ann Quote
