terrilee
Ok my first batch (ever) is done. They look and smell very nice I must say. Will have to wait for the hot throw tomorrow. But I do have one question:Why does my second pour(votive) look lighter than the first one ? Or is it because it hasnt really cooled yet? Ok so now I am addicted and cant wait to do my next batch tonight. Oh and another question: I know how strong the monkey farts was today with pouring outside but I do want to make some patchouli blend. What % FO would you use of this ? I am sure I dont want the 1 oz. to 1 Pound do I ? I think I may have the whole neighborhood complaining on that one. Thank you all for you helpTerri
bella soy
The candle probably has not cured yet. I take pictures of my candles while curing and then after and there is a huge difference in color. as far as the Fo sorry cant help with that
AngelaVA
You could start with about 3-4% for the Patchouli. It generally is a strong FO and one that I hate, lol.
7Angela7
Is the top lighter or did you pour further than your first pour?
terrilee
Not too sure about the question but yes the top is lighter about 1/4 inch ( if that) and yes when I did the second pour I filled them to the top. Thanks terri
7Angela7
It sounds like you poured too far. You should pour just a tiny bit above your 1st pour, if you pour a lot more you're gonna be able to see it. If you haven't read through it already, here's a great tutorial http://www.candletech.com/votives/.
Candybee
Yup! I agree. The pics of how to fill were very helpful:cheesy2:
terrilee
Tha Thank you very much. You were correct. I did another batch last night and did fill them up to the top and the repour is fine. You are all so wonderful and helpful to the newbies .Terri
Scented
Now see I would be one to use the patchouli at 1 oz pp, but then I like patchouli and I don't find it to be overbearing at that amount at all.
ConnieS
I looked over that tutorial as well and...just a question....That flower pot holder shown as the last picture....would anyone agree that perhaps that isnt the 'best' holder to burn votives in? I've tried to burn a votive in that exact holder and...BLAH what a disaster. I now burn in the tall straight votive holders and they burn beautifully....Just a thought Connie:shocked2:
