New Candle Maker
Does anyone else deal with hard water where you make candles? I bought a 5 Gallon water bottle and the whole stand set up and use only this for double boiler, but how can I clean my molds (silicone, plastic and metal) the best without saying "hot soapy water." I would have to have a few buckets of hot water to rinse until its clean, not the easiest. Any other ideas?
TallTayl
I don’t wash the candle equipment. Heat gun, wipe out. Alcohol spray if too much scent is detectable.
Candybee
Same here. For candle residue and smaller amounts I heat gun the wax then use paper towels to wipe off the surface of my equipment. Works great. If needed I can follow up with an alcohol wipe. For larger wax deposits or cleaning out old wax from glass candles I put on a tray and set them in a warm oven. After a few minutes the wax is liquified then I can pour it out into the trash. Then wipe out with paper towels. I never wash my candle equipment like I do dishes in the sink. I always use a heat source to liquify the wax then wipe clean with paper towels. I buy paper towels by the pak always so I have plenty on hand for candlemaking days. New Candle Maker
What about silicone molds? Those are really the ones I am not sure how to clean, I have some that are very detailed.
