Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate

Recommended Posts

Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate. Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate is especially well-suited for cleansing sensitive skin. It is also a mild surfactant with very good detergency and foaming power. It is produced from vegetable oils and is therefore readily biodegradable.

Thanks, I am just getting started in soap making  about 4 months ago and I am pretty happy with my recipe and feedback but still not perfect. (maybe in another year or 2,3,4) Always wanting to learn as much as I can.

Just curious if anybody uses this?

That is a surfactant and would not be useable in a lye soap recipe.

If you are making a melt-and-pour soap you could probably add it. I think it comes as a liquid. You'd have to check the suppliers or manufacturers recommendations for use and %.

You “could” use it as a soap additive, but then you’ll move from soap (which does not require special labeling) into cosmetics (which does require special labeling).

I suspect that is in the product you purchased as a lather enhancer.

Thanks Talltaly, I did not purchase the soap but, just trying to learn as much as I can. I plan on to start selling my soap way down the road as I like to experiment. (probably too much)
