Courtney
Does anyone else's soap harden extremely faster in the winter or is it just me? Usually my soaps don't harden enough to cut for like 13 hours at least. But since it has gotten cold it takes like 3 hours for them to completely harden. TallTayl
If it’s too cold it doesn’t saponify correctly and can appear hardened. Saponification takes energy. If you notice your soap getting crumbly along the edges it means that it’s not warm enough to complete the process. insulate well and use the oven or a heating pad if necessary.
Shari
I agree with TallTayl. Mine don't gel for at least 2 hours in a lot of cases. They are solid in the mold but nowhere near hard enough to unmold. I can unmold in 12-14 hours with the exception of salt bars which I unmold and cut at about 3 hours. Crafty1_AJ
I think lower humidity in winter may be a contributing factor. Lower humidity means soap loses moisture faster.
