ellajoan
I have a bunch of testers that I want to recycle and re-use the jars. What is the best way to melt the old, remaining wax and clean the jar properly? Jars are expensive! Thanks!
moonshine
After I test in mine I use a butter knife and cut /scrape the remaining wax out and set the jars upside down on a cookie sheet lined with foil and put in the oven at like 170 for a few until all wax has dripped out and then wash with dish soap and dry beenj doing this for 10 years and have only like 3 jars crack from excessive use Edited June 21, 2017 by moonshine
Sponiebr
What moonie said. Just as a note you can also use a light solvent (mineral spirits and turpentine work well) to really get every trace of wax out of a glass jar after your have gotten 99% of the wax out via the warm and melt process.
TallTayl
I do similarly in the oven, but with a paper towel to catch the drips. I don't wash my tins, just wipe very well with an alcohol doused paper towel before wicking.
