NrthTxWind
Started looking for liability insurance, what a pain. Was quoted 700.00 a yr. From a underwriter?? I know nothing...nothing about insurance. Husband also took care of this .But I decided I would do this. Called our farmers that covers cars, home, boat, etc... referred me to another place and then she calls a underwriter...Don't want to ask husband, can someone explain??? MLG
Do you make any kind of soapery at all? It doesn't have to be much - you just need to have something in your line (lotion bars, bottled lotion, melt and pour soap - just something). If you do, you would qualify for insurance from the Guild. It will run you about $560 a year, and you may qualify for a PayPal payment plan. Here's the link for you http://www.soapguild.org/. EnvyCandles
An Underwriter is the person our Agent or Broker will contact if they are not sure of qualifications... basically the person who helps determine if the risk is insurable. Generally speaking, customers do not speak directly with underwriting. It is a very normal and standard part of writing insurance. Pretty much every single policy is reviewed by an underwriter, either before, during or after the policy is sold. Most companies do not want to insure our types of businesses due to the risk... Usually a specialty policy is required.
pcbrook
Wow! $700 a year seems kind of high! I don't know how they figure it all out. I am in Wisconsin and I pay about $350 per year.
