Lubella
This is a 16 oz mason jar (3 in diameter), with 100% soy wax, 1 oz hansel and gretels house FO.Eco 12 wick, which I thought was good for this size, but apparently not huh? Smells great when not burned, not much of a hot throw at all. Do you think I should go up to a 14?After 1 hour of burningAfter 2 hours of burningAfter 3 hours of burningThanks for taking the time to look
Vernie1
Hi Lubella, Soy wax is a tricky wax, at least to me it is lol. I probably would go up to a Eco 14 or 16, since the 3rd hour burn looks like the flame is about to go out. IMO soy wax has to cure for about a week or longer for a better scent throw. JI
Agreed. I found an eco 12 worked well for my 2 1/2 inch-2 3/4 incher. But it was more oval shape and I used 444. I agree with vernie on a bigger wick. Is that your first burn?
Node11
I've been burn testing a few FO's in GB 444. With a 3.125" jar and ECO wicks I've been needing at least a 14 or 16. Some are smack in the middle where 14 is a tad too small and 16 a tad too big. Argh! I'm thinking of trying some CD wicks as well.
Lubella
Yes that was my first burn! I re melted the wax, and poured into a smaller diameter jar. Going to order some larger wicks as well
JI
I know what you mean Node! Like shoes half sizes would be nice. I hate to have an overwicked candle. But between a 10 and 12 a little overwicked is better than hangup! Jmo.
EricofAZ
Hangup tends to catch up at the end. Keep that in mind.Twist your wick. I learned on this forum to take the wick and give it 6 rotations. It will rotate while burning down and that eliminates oval shape.
Crafty1_AJ
When you started test-burning, how long was the wick? Sometimes if the wick is trimmed too short, you'll get tunneling and a lousy burn.
