  1. I totally understand what Moonshine is saying. I hesitated for a while to do wholesale but recently tried it. The lady was very nice and even advised me that my prices were too low. Although I did offer my items to her at half off, I will do it differently if i decide to wholesale again. Wholesale is great if you're looking to expand your brand and company name. if you can make money wholesaling at half price then do it, if not please do don't. I tested this one wholesale account just to see if I would like wholesaling. Since wholesaling, I feel like I'm cheating myself out of money so, I really don't see myself doing this again anytime soon. If you can make if work for you Sndfrddy, then do it, if you can't make a decent profit, please stay with your frame of mind. You can always wholesale later in your business. Do what works and is working for you!
  2. Thanks everyone for the awesome feedback, it really is thought provoking. I ponder wholesaling vs. retail and actually did math to try to figure out if it will be worth my time. I certainly could not and do not retail my soaps at 2.50, I simply cannot afford to. This lady really loves what she does to retail soap at that price and love her wholesalers. You all have definitely given me food for thought in regards to wholesaling and retail. OldGlory brings up good points in not wasting product or having scents no one likes or wants. Emilyspoppy, you are a mountain of wisdom being in business for over 30+ years. I totally get what you mean!
  3. Wow, these comments are very interesting. I guess our crafting business is what we make it but it still lends me to ask, Is Wholesaling Soaps worth it? I'm asking because I see some of you have closed some of your wholesale accounts. I'm sure it's for different reasons but I'm about to venture out into wholesaling and wonder if it's even worth it.
  4. I was just thinking the same thing, that it's time for me to start making fall scented soaps. I just bought a new mold and is excited to use it. I need more fall scents, I'm waiting for Peaks 15% off fragrance sale which should be coming up in a few days. I love their fragrances they're a lil pricey but I think they have great fragrance oils.
  5. This is some great advice given. I was asked the same thing at one time and I struggled with it because I felt they were limiting my earning potential. No, I wouldn't sell the same product next door but I feel I should be able to sell in the same town.
  6. Your soaps are so pretty. I love the colors!
  7. I'm glad they rectified the problem. This reminds me to make sure I choose the correct country and check the drop down options more closely. Thanks for sharing!
  8. That is a nice looking candle. I love the top that matches the label, that was a great idea to spray paint it you chose a nice color.
  9. That is some pretty soap! You did a great job but all of your soaps are.
  10. It's nice to hear you are feeling better. I'm in the process of making soap as I type this, I'm waiting for my oils to cool down. I let them get too hot so now I have to wait. I hate when I do that:( I'm trying to use up the oils I masterbatched over a month ago, so hopefully I will use it up this weekend.
  11. Flicker, that's a great idea, I've never thought of that as an option but I like it.
  12. Oh wow, I have never thought about weighing my oils or counting wicks to make sure it's accurate but I will from now on. Thanks for sharing this info.
  13. Ooops, I didn't mean to post twice but I don't know how to remove it.
  14. Yeap, what everyone has already said but in my experience with melts, it depends on the wax and adding a lot of fragrance oils doesn't mean it will smell longer sometimes I think it will hinder it. I personally do not want a melt that last 5 hours. In my personal experience with melts they should last longer than 5 hours. If you experiment some more you can get it to last at least 2 days and longer depending on what you experiment with. When I made them I added a lil coconut oil to mine but I was also using IgI6006 wax. It's a great thrower but like everyone has said you must experiment to see what you like.

  16. It could be a palm wax or a wax that has stearic acid added to it
  17. I'm glad you all are feeling better. I too was under the weather and haven't made soap in about a month. I have soaping oils that I masterbatched about a month ago and I feel like I want to make soap. I've been cleaning up slowly here and there and feel like making soap. I hope to use it up soon. Happy soaping and candle making;)
  18. I like Peak's Lavender Fragrance oil. You can order a sample to see if you like it.
  19. Its funny you bring up the dipped teddy bears lol. I have Never understood the point in dipping them but I guess some folks were trying something different
  20. Some customers are difficult to deal with. Often times if I receive something that I don't like, I won't use it or give it away. She overlooked your kind gesture. Perhaps she was having a bad day.
  21. Beautiful website and display setup. The display boxes are really nice!
