MoonShadow
So...today I had that first soaping experience where your jaw drops and you go "Woah!" I had to glop the mashed potato-like batter into the mold. So here's what was different in this recipe. I ordered my PKO from Essential Wholesale instead of Liberty Naturals. ( I noticed it was much harder than the PKO from Liberty. It didn't "scoop" our of the jar...I had to break off chunks. Is that usual from PKO to be hard like that? The other new thing was a Now Jasmine oil which is a actually a blend of synthetic and true essential oil. Any guesses as to the acceleration culprit? Candybee
My PKO is rock hard. I have to chisel off pieces. I've only ordered from one source so far so that is my only experience with PKO. I just assumed it was normal. Now the shea butter I order is soft like buttah!
TallTayl
Pko can get rock hard depending on the ambient temp. It is normal. My money is the acceleration was caused by your FO. Synthetic retail available FO's often contain compounds that cause speedy acceleration in CP.If it gets too hot in the pot, you can usually let it get to gel stage and then get it into the mold more smoothly. MoonShadow
So I made another loaf today, same recipe minus the Jasmine oil. Used real EO's and it soaped like a dream.
TallTayl
Good to hear. I'd save that other FO to HP - or have a plan to deal with the rapid acceleration (such as soaping cool or just moving really fast! )
8-GRAN-ONES
i agree..i would say it was the fo..most times..florals..will trace quick..My PKO from columbus..has to be chipped out..in the winter..in summer it is a bit easier.. Scent Cellar
My PKO comes in flake form from Columbus Foods. So easy to scoop out & weigh.
