  2. In the cookie cutter department all I have are the plastic ones
  3. yay!!!! awesome awesome!! thanks for taking the time to look! they are too cute. And very inexpensive!!!
  4. Thanks for the advice! I canning ring sounds perfect. I just ate some tuna salad and was going to use the can from the tuna haha. But the canning ring sounds alot better. I have one of those glass candy thermometers. But I'm going to try and get something digital soon because I have a hard time reading the others.
  5. Oh I know!!! They are sooo cute!! I fell in love with them. They are just so darn cute and colorful.
  6. Thanks everyone! I feel much better!! But...I must confess this.....when I melted my soy wax last night, I did not put something in my pot while do the double boiler method. I just put some water in a large pot and then sat my pyrex glass filled with wax in that. So the glass was directly in the water....is this bad??
  7. All it says is Paraffin wax and low oil content. Which I'm not entirely sure what that means. Melt point is 133-135. I picked it up at HB. I know I know....I should always purchase from well know suppliers for a good quality, But I just wanted to try it So unfortunately that's all the info I have on it. I just don't want to blow up or anything. Has anyone ever reached the flash point??? Scary!!!!
  8. I'm totally addicted to this forum already and am so thankful for all the info here and everyone willing to share advice. I do not take any advice the wrong way. It's a learning process and I'm open to all advice. I did not take your response the wrong at all. No worries Don't be surprised if you see my posting photos of candles in soda or beer cans LOL I want to use all sorts of things and just soak in all the info I can!!
  9. Tonight I'm giving my hand at paraffin wax. I will be melting 1lb of this. To do this safely should I keep my stove on a low setting throughout the entire heating process since paraffin has a flashpoint much lower than soy. What temp is ideal for paraffin and what should I not exceed.
  10. I'm definitely going to try different types of jars and containers. This is just the first one I tried out because it's what I purchase. And I didn't know which ones were best.
  11. HAHA I love it!!! My hubby got home this morning ( he works nights) and the first thing he said was..." It smells like fruit loops in here" Too funny!!
  12. Oh now I feel like an idiot lol!! I thought the whole thing was soap...LOL Oh well they are still so super duper cute! I just had to share
  13. Look at how cute these soaps are!! I have been browsing around on Etsy looking at candles and soaps, bath bombs and lathers! All things that smell good lol. And stumbled across these. These are soaps!! I wonder how in the world she did this? I never understood all the details and colors one can give to soap and candles...it really does amaze me! I just wanted to share. whoever made these did an awesome job!!!
  14. It was my first time last night and it is so much fun! I was giddy the whole time. And the first thing I did this morning was check and smell my candle and tarts lol. I will definitely have a great attitude along the way!
  15. Stella I will definitely post in the Veggie section when I do my test burn to let everyone know how it turns out. The worse thing that could happen is that it doesn't burn properly, but hey, I'm learning! Never know, this jar may work well. Either way, I'm having a blast!!!
  16. Thank you! I bought the little wide jars at walmart. They stood out to me so that's what I chose! I love the way it looks. They come in packs of 4.
  17. All I bought was the small wide jars, but I'm sure I can find something taller to use tonight. I didn't know anything about that. But I have my fingers crossed for a nice burn when I do light it up. It's so hard waiting for it to cure!! It smells so yummy in the container.
  18. Just stunning and beautiful. It's so hard to believe it's actually soap very good job. I hope to make things just half as pretty as that someday.
  19. So what is the most popular soap making process? Is it the cold pour? from little bits I have read here and there I got scared away by the cold process. Can you achieve the same types/looks of soap using M&P as you would with the CP?
  20. Best of luck!! Your going to do just fine and have a blast with it!! Be sure to keep us updated. I did my first last night and they turned out!!
  21. Thank you!! I'm so excited and ready to make some more! I can tell already, I'm going to be addicted!!!
  22. I purchase the candle kit from rustic scents on ebay so fruit loops was one that I chose. I tell you, it truly smells just like a real fruit loop!! I was drooling the whole time. Made me want to run out and grab a box lol. I plan on letting it sit for atleast 3 days before I test it.
  23. Okay so I took the plunge!!! I gave my hand at candle making for the first time tonight! I was so excited and even more excited to see the end result. I used soy wax 415 with fruit loops FO (it smells absolutely amazing!!!) and an 8oz jar. To melt my wax I used a the pyrex measuring cup and placed it in a pan with water. This worked very well! Kept check on temps and poured the 8oz jar and then did some little tarts. I also made a votive with the leftover wax but there wasn't enough to fill to the top. The top of my 8oz jar is so smooth and pretty. I didn't even have to do a repour!!! The tarts turned out just perfect as well. Not too soft at all. I did use a little stearic acid about a tsp? The only thing that bummed me out was the color. I used dye chips and followed directions. The color was supposed to be a sky blue but it turned out like a mint green. So I'm guessing I need alot more dye chips or need to invest in some liquid dye. I know it's not much but I'm thrilled with the results. Please let me know what you think. Tomorrow evening I'm going to try paraffin wax!!
  24. Yes it's the melt and pour. Is that why it looks so dull? And thank you!! I'm glad you like the green soapies! They did turn out pretty and clear
  25. Okay so I have been writing here in the forums for about a week. But I have been writing over in the candle making sections. I'm a newbie here and love all things that smell good. I'm giving my hand at candles tonight...but since I had a little spare time I figured I would try this little soap kit out. I have never ever attempted to make a soap so these are my firsts. Please any advice would be lovely. The clear isn't as clear as I would like it to be, and it has swirls and bubbles in it. Even with spraying it with alcohol. The shells turned out pretty and clear with a light tint of blue.
