  1. I put in the amount of wax I need, add 8.5% FO and I then pour tealights with my leftover wax. :-) That way I never end up short, and have the little tealights to use!
  2. Haha, no biggie. They are definitely cute. Little soapy monsters, hehe.
  3. See, my husband would have called me a fruit loop, lol. Some scents I love how much they make my house smell when making them. I made Mistletoe (CS) last night and it gagged me. Oh, it was so awful. As soon as my pour pot was cooled down enough, I cleaned it out and made Hansel and Gretel's House (CS) to cover up the smell. I hate the smell of pine and Mistletoe had a really strong pine smell....my aunt loves the smell of pine, though, so that's why I made it.
  4. They are cute. Great for kids because then they'd have a cute little rubber toy to play in the bathtub with!
  5. My husband is already annoyed with me because every time he comes home from work I shove candles in his face to smell, lol.
  6. I'm only about a month in, and it's so addicting! I love making the candles and burning them. It's fun and exciting, especially when they turn out great! Keep up the great attitude! :-)
  7. My first couple batches were before I realized how to properly weigh everything, and they turned out terrible. I went and got a small kitchen scale and now the candles are turning out great! I usually use around 8.5% FO load. ETA: I also found this site, which was very helpful in figuring it all out.
  8. Love the colors! Great job, and congratulations!
  9. It is definitely hard to wait, but so worth it! I'm new, too, so I'm right there with you. If I'm mainly testing the wicks, I only wait 48 hours, and then test every day, and by the last day is when I can really smell the scent! Candle making is addictive!
  10. Yeah, they look so pretty! I love the orange, too! Also, love the look of the crystalizing Palm....hmmm...it's making me think of picking up some of that with my next order, lol.
  11. Where'd you find it? All the ones I've looked at are the basic. This one is really, really nice looking! Thanks!
  12. I know Candle Science gives a free 1oz with every order. I don't know who gives two, though.
  13. You still need to cure tarts, I believe. Give them a while and then try them again. Also, my tarts that I made with 464 are solid, just softer than the ones made with EcoSoya PB.
  14. So many rhymes, so little time, lol! If we replace the 't' in tarting with.....nevermind. :-)
  15. Those status jars are so pretty! I really love it without any dye, too.
  16. I made some Blueberry Cobbler (CS) tarts today. I did some in the clamshell molds, some in the floater molds and some in the soufflé cups. Love them! They look so pretty! Candles are definitely addictive, tarts included!
  17. I tried because I had some leftover wax from making a container. While I was able to get them out of the mold, they are quite soft. I'll stick to using tealights for my excess wax.
  18. When I've ordered, I've ordered in larger quantities. You can order 4 oz for $5.60 (free shipping) and break it down into two 2oz bottles of different scents. When I just what to try a couple FO's, it seems cheaper for me to order from them on Ebay than to order from any of the other suppliers websites. I don't know how most of their scents work in soy so far, but the Chamomile Lavender is really strong, and I just made Victorian Christmas last night, so I'll let you know in about a week! :-)
  19. I'm also a newbie to making soy candles, almost a month in! I've used the EcoSoya PB to make tarts and it works great! I have yet to use it in the clamshells yet, but it comes out of the floater molds without any trouble. I just made some last night and they literally slid right out this morning. I didn't have to push on the bottom or anything. Love it!
  20. I got their site to load, but it took a long time.
  21. Oh, I have burned SOOOO many cookies (and supper) because I walk away and forget. The sad thing is, I have a table set up right next to my desk, so it's like an L-shaped desk now, so I have actually stirred while doing stuff on the computer. It's the weekend, though, so all three kids are home and running around, and for some reason, I just kind of forgot that I was even making candles. This is why I usually stick to making them when they are in school. Less interupptions, less chance of me losing my head all together and forgetting where I am, haha! And yes, I normally do stir frequently while it cools, sometimes the entire time it cools, but then my arm kills me later, lol.
  22. I had my first real experience with the sink hole today. I made 3 small batches, and the middle batch, I got caught up in Facebook and forgot about it, so it was a bit below 150 when I poured it, and I usually pour around 160-165. I don't remember exact temp because I was in a rush to hurry up and pour it before it got any colder, but it caused a nice little sink hole. I use GB 464 and Ecos.
  23. I purchased some scents from them a while ago, when I was making smelly jellies and corn cob sachets. I still have some scents to try in my 464 soy wax. Their scents worked great in the smelly jellies and corn cob sachets, though. HTH. ETA: Oh, I have used the Chamomile Lavender in the soy. It's a very strong scent! Worked well, in my newbie to candles opinion. :smiley2:
  24. That's the kit I started with. One thing I can tell you; take those directions with a grain of salt. The first two batches I made, two 8oz candles in each, and even after a month, they have no scent throw. I've made some since with her wax and fragrance, adding the fragrance at a much higher temp, and they turned out much better! I almost gave up after those first two batches, but I decided to order some wax and FO from Candle Science, and I'm so glad I did. I'm still very new...just a month in, but I've already learned so much in here and my candles are coming out much, much better, with great HT if I can be patient enough to let them sit for at least a week, lol. :-)
