  1. I have no clue yet, lol. I'm thinking I'll try the Blueberry Cobbler from CS, and maybe try Hyacinth from Venus Candles and Crafts.
  2. Yeah, I have a Chamomile Lavender from Venus Candles and Crafts (ordered on Ebay), but the smell is a bit too much for my taste. I love both Chamomile and Lavender, but this is mostly Chamomile, and overpowering.
  3. Haha, I'm the same way. I just made a 16 oz tin of CS Pumpkin Soufflé, before reading about all the wicking issues with that scent....grr. I can tell ya, the cold throw is enough to scent up my front two rooms (420 sq feet). I've read that this scent works well in soy, so I think I'm just going to wait until Saturday to do my test burn to test the wicks. I have a feeling I'll need to up the wicks after all I've read. I'm using GB464 and I double wicked with Eco 4's....thinking I should've tried the Eco 6's at least with this FO. Oh well, you live and learn. Either way, it smells amazing and it won't go to waste. If these wicks are a dud, I'll just scoop it out and put it in my tart burner. :-) Love this scent!
  4. I really want to try those scents just so I can use those names when telling people about them, lol. "Hey, wanna try some Liquid Crack, or maybe Swimm Nekkid?" :-)
  5. I bought the FO from someone on Ebay just because I HAD to try it. It's actually a really great Christmas scent. Here's the scent description I was given: Reindeer Poo - This fragrance will lift your holiday spirits, and add a little magic to your life! Reindeer Poo begins with top notes of apples and pears; followed by middle notes of eucalyptus, pine, and geranium; and well-balanced with base notes of vanilla, cedarwood, and patchouli.
  6. Thanks, Stella! I burned that one for 3 1/2 hours before I blew it out. That candle was made before I got the the bowtie wick bars, and it isn't compltely centered, so that's probably why it burned a little lopsided. It's almost center, but I just looked at it again, and it does appear to be a little to the one side. I tell ya, the wick bars are a wonderful invention, lol. I haven't had an off-centered wick since! Again, thanks for the reply and the suggestions. I really appreciate it! :-)
  7. Okay, so I've been burning a Lavender Chamomile candle that I made about 1 1/2 weeks ago (11 days to be exact). It's been burning for 3 1/2 hours in a 4oz jelly jar with about a 2 1/2 inch diameter, using Eco-10 wicks. I am definitely seeing the difference the fragrance makes, as I have everything exactly the same, but burned a Cinnamon Bun yesterday that had a wider and deeper mp. While the HT could be better, which I'm sure would be if I let it cure longer (I told you, I'm impatient), it is strong enough to scent my front two rooms (combined together with a huge and open arch) which is about 420 sq feet. I figure for a 4oz candle, that's pretty good. Anyhow, here are pics of the candle I am burning today. Thoughts? Thanks!
  8. Thanks for all the welcomes and tips! I really appreciate it. :-) Getting the kids around for school, then a busy day of running around for me, but I'll post more later. Just wanted to say thanks really quick!
  9. Hi there! I'm new to candle making, too. I started out using the popsicle sticks and clothespin to hold my wick in place, but just recently purchased the bowtie wick bars and I LOVE them! They work so much better and are so easy to set up!
  10. Hello everyone! My name is Jill and I am a stay at home mom of 3. They are now all in school, so while I do transcription from home part-time, I wanted an actual hobby, something I enjoyed doing, besides shopping. I've always LOVED candles and wanted to try my hand at making my own, but just never got around to it. I finally decided to take the plunge. I love soy candles, so even though I'm reading that they are a lot harder, I'm up for the challenge! I dove right in, buying a kit about two to three weeks ago off of Ebay. Followed the directions to the T, but was not impressed. I wasn't sure if it was me, the supplies, the directions, etc. I changed the temps to add everything, and they turned out slightly better, but still no cigar, lol. I got frustrated, so I went on Candle Science and bought GB 464 (still don't know what wax was in the kit) and other supplies. I've been making 4 and 8 oz jelly jars using eco 10 wicks, which in all the candles I've tested, seem to burn well, clean sides of the jars, little to no mushrooming. After finding this forum and reading up, I'm learning that the FO can also change to wick you use. I really wish I would've found this site earlier than I did, but there's no looking back now. I've spent a small fortune on supplies, split between a few orders over the past two weeks. :-) My husband just rolls his eyes at me, but he's supportive of my hobby, so all is well. I figure that I've got plenty to test with, and I enjoy making them and, of course, burning them! He comes home from work and one of the first things I ask him now is, "Can you smell the candle?" HT has been my biggest struggle. Actually, my biggest problem is impatience. I have a really hard time letting them sit to cure. :-) I wait at least 24 hours, then I light it and let it burn for about an hour. If I can't smell it (after leaving the room and coming back in) then I blow it out, let it cool, put the lid back on and leave it alone a few more days. Anyhow, before I write a whole book in my very first post, I'm gonna leave it at that for now. I can get pretty talkative, so just yell at me if need be. :-) I'm excited to be here and to continue learning. I've found lots of great info on here already. Now, if I could just listen to most of it and quit being so impatient and buying more stuff that I don't need yet, lol. :-)
