  1. I just got some f/o from Peaks and was reading the bottle and it says to add the f/o just before you pour?? I use 415 soy and always have added my f/o's at higher temps. I always thought that the f/o needed to bind with the wax at higher temps. I pour at 90-95 degrees. Is that going to be hot enough for the f/o to bind with the wax? This is a curveball and goes against everything Ive been doing. Any suggestions?? Mike
  2. Wow its a sign of our country's economic state. We are not getting better by any means. Sorry to see them go. Maybe someone else will pick them up. Mike
  3. I use Ecosoya PB and is great. Melts smell good for at least 2 days. Arent the 415 melts too soft to handle? Mike
  4. Wow I was so bummed out but now its all turned around!!! Thanks!! Mike
  5. Wow very nice ksranch. Looks so real. Great job.
  6. Thanks Stella. I guess I am hung up on wanting to have all the f/o's. I have found oils that did awesome but we didnt care for the smell but figured someone else might and so we kept it. I am going to start with a few scents and keep testing like I have been and just keep getting better and moving foward. Mike
  7. Thanks for all the truthful replies. OK I admit I have an addiction to this and buying new f/o's. Maybe I am doing something wrong and I am glad I asked. I have 4 choices of wicks that I use and I burn all 4 at the same time. I use ECO,CD,CDN AND HTP. Usually I need to go through a couple of sizes before I feel its right. When I get what I thought was the correct candle which is good HT, good even wax pool and clean burn all the way to the end without having any glass problems I thought I was through for that F/O,Wick and Dye. So I move on to the next one. Am I wrong there?? I figured we could get some help from others. We don't sell candles and really don't think we would even be remotely close at this time. What I meant about fall and Christmas was not for retail purposes and I also stated that in my last post. I was asking that with so many f/o's do you all still test all of them yourselves or do you GIVE them to family and friends to help. Mike
  8. In my case yes thats exactly what stopped my candles from frosting. I do not sell candles so I wouldnt have to worry about that. Claiming GREEN is a strong statement make sure all the research is done. Just because someone doesnt use dye doesnt mean its a GREEN CERTIFIED product. Mike
  9. I need some opinions on this. We are coming into our first year of making candles and we did not have alot of fall and seasonal scents last year. I just recieved my shipment of samples and now have to test over 55 scents to eliminate the bad ones!!!! Of course I need help burning them because there is no way I could burn that many all the way and still have enough time to have candles ready for fall and Christmas. The business is not selling retail so I do not have insurance yet. What do you do??? Take a chance of giving them away and HOPE nothing happens??? Do you give them out to friends and family with the same form you use for testing but explain it to them?? CONFUSED. Mike
  10. Stella I used to believe it was the dye also so I stopped but after I read one of your posts way back, I went back to my Reddig-Glow chips and really got anal about seriously analyzing everything from wax temps, room temps etc, and found that when I stored the candles upstairs where it was warmer and alot lighter they frosted. I then moved them to the darker cooler basement and miraculously the frost was gone. In my case that was all it took. Mike
  11. Just recieved Scotch Pine from CS and oob it smells great but I will make my decision after I test its HT and CT in 415. Mike
  12. Welcome Bill and ditto to what eveyone else above said.. Mike
  13. Hello everyone! My Name is Mike and I am a wax addict!! LOL My wife and I have been making candles for a year now and I have been lurking in the background reading for about the same time. We started out by me purchasing a kit with 40 lbs of wax and f/o and color chips from Fleabay. Eventhough my wife showed interest I showed alot more. I do all the research and testing and she helps with the pouring. She works harder at her job than I do so I have alot more time on my hands... Its a good system and we dont fuss over it so we have a good thing going. We dont sell at all yet but would love to one day. I test EVERY batch that we pour and have accumulated tons of supplies some unuseable like many here. There is no rush to go retail until we feel we have a complete and safe line. I have to thank everyone on this board for all the info thats here. Its literally priceless!! Without it we would have packed it in a long time ago but thanks to this board we are now officially "POOR" LOL. We pour gb415 wax in status jars, Ecosoya PB clamshell melts and tarts. I look foward to posting more and picking your brains. I will upload some pics of what we have done so far. Mke
