  1. I am using it. Works great. No problems popping it out. They stay solid and don't crumble. Just don't do it with container palm.
  2. I use Zinc or HTPs in them. Couple things with Palm, especially certain wick combinations in that size. You may not get a full melt pool until 2 or 3 burns in, sometimes not at all. Some FOs will keep the burn from reaching full melt pool on that diameter for me. But it does leave a gorgeous shell. I make a chunk style in it that will glow nicely when burned. I will have to dig out some of mine to show you guys.
  3. I'm late to the party, but love love love Cucumber Cantaloupe from Peak.
  4. Uline has them, but you'd have to get a larger amount. WSP has them in smaller amounts. And if I'm not mistaken, Nashville Wraps has them as well.
  5. Shipping from them doesn't take a horribly long time for me. Right around the beginning of the month though, they were severely backed up because they took off from (I think) December 20 until around January 2nd. They had the notice on their facebook page and on the top banner. I know that they also did new work with the website at the same time. I think they are back to their normal routine now. It's usually around 2 days before they ship, if I recall.
  6. She got some coconut oil. She also has said that the color looks alright, but the smell and taste is horribly horribly off. I started getting some misgivings on it when she told me that, but she also mentioned that she used it in cooking. The taste is described by her as "melted crayons / chemically type smell." That has me a bit concerned. It sounds almost as if the coconut oil has had something done to it that isn't normal. She's tried the brand before and hasn't had problems with it until now. Same with other brands.
  7. Ok. I want to be sure my knowledge is correct. If you soap with rancid oils, no matter how they go through the saponification process, is it more likely to make the soap go rancid as well? Are there any other issues that could happen with using rancid oil? No, just so everyone knows, I am not the owner of said rancid oils. But one of my friends has some that she suspects is rancid based on their smell and taste and wants to use it in soap instead of cooking with it. I have suggested that it isn't the best idea, to no avail. Am I wrong in my thoughts here?
  8. Ok, I'm comfy with the CP soaps (have been for a bit) and am thinking about working on liquid or cream soaps. So, I read through the tutorials here on the board and now am wondering from those of you that have made them in the past, which way is better? I've only seen the cream soaps in a jar, but not in a squeeze bottle, so I'm wondering how practical that would be in using. Are they able to be put into a squeeze bottle and still let them come through the opening? How long are these going to have to sit after I make them? And I know this is going to be a regional question, but does one type sell better than another type? I also want to make sure that my assumption on usage is correct with them. You can use them for either soap or shampoo, right?
  9. Yep! It looks like it would work to float while it's burning. You could make an interesting centerpiece that way.
  10. I've never used the cambrian blue, but I have used other clays up to 1 TBSP per pound of oils, if that helps.
  11. Those would be awesome! Have you tried them by chance as a floater?
  12. Gorgeous! Gotta ask, what colorant are you using for that gorgeous green?
  13. I have to use the kitchen stove in the wintertime for my dipped tapers (the garage just gets too cold), and I use aluminum foil for it. It's easier to wrap the stove top with it. I take the burners and catch pans off, then line the entire thing, cut the holes back out for the burners and keep it there. And I'm not so worried about fire risk that way. On the floor I use rosin paper like you'd find at most paint stores. On counter tops I use freezer paper. As for it being too wide, you can turn it sideways and take off the length you need, then cut the rest if you need only half of the width, or something of the sort.
  14. I went there for some white colorant (testing it soon, I'll probably post the results later) because candlewick stopped carrying the white in the EVO line. While I was at it, I went looking through their soaping molds, found a really cute butterfly tube from plastic. So I asked what the dimensions of the mold were, since it wasn't overly clear on the website. And asked if they had a cap that they used to seal off the end with. They emailed me back saying that CP was impossible in it, because it never firmed up enough to pull, and that MP soap was an issue as well. They never answered my question in the first place. Plus I wondered why they would ever carry a mold that was intended for soaping if you couldn't use it for soaping to begin with... Oh, and I later was told that the way to seal the mold was to stick it into a lump of non hardening modeling clay. Didn't seem overly sanitary. Their shipping time and communication had a lot to be desired. No tracking numbers, no email to say it had shipped, nothing. I wouldn't be surprised to see the company close entirely within the next 5 years, unless they get stuff turned around.
  15. Got it out of the mold today! I'm seeing a bit of ash, but I'll wait to take care of that after it's a bit more dry.
  16. Well, not fully unmolding the soap tonight. I just took it out of the casing, and removed the bottom, and it's still very moist. Firm bar, but takes impressions too easily. So I've got the whole thing (sides plus dividers) sitting on a wire rack for overnight and hopefully I get to unmold it tomorrow. The bottom took the swirl as well and looks awesome
  17. I'm working this week on new soaps, both for Valentine's day and spring in general. I'm working on more than a few new things, so I'll post a more inclusive thread later, or might just tack them on the end of this one, who knows. Anyway, tonight's soap is "Seductions"- a blend of sandalwood, rose, jasmine, and gardenia. Hoping all turns out well, but it should, nothing much to make it overheat in this batch. It will probably come out of the mold tomorrow or the next day. I wanna see, I wanna see!!!
  18. Those are absolutely gorgeous, Kelly. Are you selling the cupcake style ones with the silicone liners? Or are they still just sitting before demolding?
  19. Palm has become a big part of our line this year. I agree that 10% is a bit steep, and most wicks just won't handle it in that wax. I'm working on testing the new Helix series to see if I can tweak the FO level up a bit. I'm running mine currently at a little less than 6%. Your wicks don't look to me like they were entirely centered to start with, especially with the green and yellow candles. But that could just be the effect of air pockets, like was previously suggested. So, I have a couple questions. Which wick/wax are you using? How long did you let it burn? It appears as if it is tunneling, which could be an air pocket, or a problem with how big the wick is, or if there was a draft in the area when you were burning them. I had to actually check the areas of my home with an incense stick to find a non drafty area for when the heat or swamp cooler was on (both forced air units.)
  20. Alrighty, guys. I'm starting this thread a bit before the end of our mad rush, but things are slowing down for me, and I was wondering how you all did this season (so far). Any really super popular scents or designs you'd like to share or brag about? Sales up or down this year? Craft fair sales for me were about normal, maybe slightly down this year. Online sales exploded, though. This is a good thing!
  21. I learned this the hard way. Dye liquids will break down most rubbers and some plastics over time. I use the glass droppers and discard the caps as well. And I always store them upright on a wire shelf near my pouring station. And I keep 2 new droppers nearby. But yes, FO (and sometimes mineral oil) will take it up if you do dribble, just as long as it isn't in a porous material. Wood floors, forget it. And ditto linoleum if you have let it sit too long.
  22. I did, but I actually kinda cheated. They are chunk candles, mostly white, but have a single little gingerbread imbed on each side for the base shape.
  23. This pair is making a showing at a show this weekend. I hope that people like them. I was in a very goofy mood tonight, hence the crosseyed reindeer.
