  1. ditto-ing Marilyn's bump for Vicky...hey Vicky...we're not gonna let you off that easy...please share what'cha know about these new waxes...I'm not above begging! Stacy
  2. lalalalaaaaa...I'm with Kaybeeeeee!! ROFLMAO!!! (They need a plugging the ears smiley!!) Stacy
  3. I was told when I placed my order that if it didn't fit my jar I could send it back with one of my jars and they would fix it to work in my jar. But I haven't gotten that far with it yet. Too busy testing the new jars without securing my wicks to know. To EZ Wick..they have great service! Stacy
  4. I believe 415 would be the same as Plain 415, which is manufactured by Golden Foods. I buy my 415 from Southern Scentsations in Flat Rock, MI. I'm testing a new jar and I am having a heck of a time wicking it with this wax. :rolleyes2 Other than that, I have always liked this wax...and WILL get it to work for me...again...come H**L or high water. hth Stacy
  5. To simplify it for yourself...I'd just figure what your wax (including additives & median price for fo) costs per ounce and keep that figure handy. So when you are pricing something you will multiply your ounces by that figure and then add to it any additional costs for jar, labels, wicks and whatever else....then triple it. I personally quadruple my costs and don't have a problem selling them...but it does depend on your area. I will add that sometimes I'm not able to quadruple the price of my jar, depending on what I paid for it...so I might just double that. I also believe it's easier to raise a price a bit once you get people hooked on using your product. As long as it's not a big increase. You can tick someone off if they bought a product at one price and the next time they see you, you are selling it for less. hth Stacy
  6. Yup, ditto Sarah on the twist ties...seems to me I saw them maybe at Rustic Essentuals or is it Escentuals? I hate these play on names...just gets me really confused. hth Stacy
  7. Okay...now I have to ask. Those that have used both is the blend truly easier to wick? I'm not concerned with frosting as so far it hasn't been an issue... :tiptoe: yet. (I don't want to say that too loudly) Can you also give me an idea of what they mean by a soy/veggie blend? What typically is the 'veggie' part? TIA Stacy
  8. Home For The Holidays, Buttermint Candies, Grandma's Swingin' Egg Nog, Spruce Christmas Tree & Cinnamon Balsalm...but I'm having a heck of a time getting the latter one wicked in my new jars! Grrr... hth Stacy
  9. I use Peak's Buttermint Candies for Candy Cane...it's awesome! And it doesn't discolor the wax. (Throws great in my soy) hth Stacy
  10. Ditto... Brenda, on their oils and service...all top notch. I haven't tried the Superior Soy either, but I get my Plain 415 from them. There hasn't been an oil I tried that didn't throw great in my soy...and Beth is a sweetie. Stacy
  11. Ooooh Vicky...you little devil do tell!! You can't keep this a secret...can you at least spill some of the benefits of the new waxes? Pretty please? Stacy
  12. Kaybee- I thought Lyschel @ Candle Cocoon was doing a prebuy on anything from Anchor Hocking...you might check and see if it's still on. hth Stacy
  13. Henry- I LOVE that jar! I had seen it on the AH site, but thought I'm not even going to attempt a 70 oz. candle at this juncture! :rolleyes2 I'm glad to know it's not that large. You'll be sure to post a picture when you get it wicked I hope?! Stacy
  14. I think I'm confused...you have to weigh your beeswax and add it to your soy anyways...when do you do it now? Do you add it into your pour pot with each batch? Adding it right into the presto pot is the way to go...you'll wish you'd thought of it sooner. Stacy
  15. Topofmurrayhill- ROFLMAO!! I soooo needed that tonight...thank you. Stacy
  16. I add my beeswax right into my presto pot with my wax. hth stacy
  17. Becca- You could probably find them locally if you have a cake decorating or candy making supply store. They look like the kind of liners you would use to make peanut butter cups. hth Stacy
  18. George- Thanks for responding...I had typed a whole post and poof it disappeared. I hate that! Anyways... I'm wondering why it only happens with a few scents? I am test burning numerous candles and scents right now (yes, there is an eerie glow about our house ) and they are all wicked the same and then I wick up or down depending on what is necessary. I repoured 3 scents and made sure I was diligent about stirring the fo into the wax and I am finding so far (but will post results once they are completely tested) that they are doing much better. I am actually having more problems with wicks drowning that actually having the wicks being too big in most cases. :rolleyes2 I sure wish I had choosen an easier jar to wick...hindsight is 20/20. I truly appreciate your input on this. Thanks. Stacy
  19. I use Peak's Mediterranean Fig in soy...I love it...but I don't know how it compares to others as I haven't tried anyone else's. :undecided hth Stacy
  20. I think you'll have to wick up using beeswax...but I'm not sure about the universal additive - never used that before. hth Stacy
  21. I was under the understanding it was 4 x cost for retail and 2 x cost for wholesale. I have a retail store, and I will not buy from someone that I can not keystone (double) the price of their product. And if they are also selling their product retail and are selling it for under what my keystone mark up would be...I don't buy from them. It makes me look like I'm price gouging, when this is truly just standard practice...so I just stay away...there are plenty of peeps out there that follow my rule of thumb and I buy from them. I've been doing it for going on 15 years...it's worked so far. JMPO Stacy
  22. Guppygirl...now you know why I was whining so much about them discontinuing it. I'm so glad they brought it back. Just use caution when mixing up your batches and I'm sure we can talk them into keeping it around. This is my all time favorite fo! Stacy
  23. Thanks Henryk...I did a search but my description of the problem didn't bring anything up. I'm going to mix up another batch and stir stir stir and see if that works. I am noticing this morning that an Orange Chiffon has the same problem to a minor degree...and that definitely has vanilla. I appreciate your help. Thanks so much for your help. Dashmo...now I understand your ? about the vanilla...thanks also. Stacy
  24. Nope...Home For The Holidays and Rocky Mountain Christmas..pine seems to be the common factor? It seems to happen worse in the 28 oz. :undecided TIA Stacy
  25. I am testing 16 & 26 oz. elevation jars (similar to apothecary, for those that don't know what they are) and I have a couple of scents that I get a slight black film that floats on top of the melt pool. I understand it is somehow coming from the wick...but can anyone tell me what is causing it? It only happens with a couple of scents. I use Plain 415 & beeswax blend and have been testing cottons, htp's and now cd's (and am double wicking these babies) ...seems to have happened with all 3 types of wicks. It's driving me nuts cuz it makes the candle look dirty. This ever happen to anyone out there?:rolleyes2 TIA Stacy
