  1. Do you advertise your web address on your labels? If not, I'd say go for it. But if you do, I as a customer would probably be a little ticked if I realized you upped the price at the craft fair when I could have bought it cheaper off your website.........well, maybe not, as I would have had to pay shipping:smiley2: So looking at it that way, maybe you could up the price to just under what it would cost to ship to that area???? Just a thought.
  2. For those of you that make tarts & clamshells, how much do you make up of one scent for testing? They take such a small amount of wax and I'd hate to make up a bunch and find that the scent just isn't working in that wax as far as HT.
  3. I've gotten a few from them when I first started making candles since they are in driving distance. Their Clean Cotton is a nice clean smell and strong. Cotton Blossom is also strong but I don't care for it as much but friends & co-workers love it. I haven't tried any of the other ones that they have on sale and that's why I MUST take a drive over to sniff:cheesy2: I've tried some of their other ones and like everywhere else, hit or miss.
  4. Oops! Forgot to mention that. It's till April 7th, so you have a little time:wink2:
  5. Just when you thought you had enough sample FO to test! :smiley2: I got an email from Lone Star and they are having a sample FO sale. <edited by Scented to remove specifics of sale, which is a no no in this section>/1oz, but only on about 20 spring/summer scents. In case you aren't on their email list here is what's on sale. Clean Cotton, Cotton Blossom, Cotton Bouquet, Country Breeze, Cucumber Melon, Downy April Fresh, Gardenia, Gardenia Lily, Hawaiian Breeze, Honeysuckle, Juniper Breeze, Lemon Lavender, Peony, Rain, Rainforest blossoms, Sea breeze, Sea Petals, Spring Rain, Sunwashed Linen, & Sweet Jasmine Vine. I only listed them all because it doesn't look like they have the sale advertised on their website and you'd have to search through all scents to find the ones on sale. I might just have to make a trip over there
  6. I live in the town that Greenleaf use to be. To bad they still aren't around. The only 2 close that I can think of is either Southwest Candle Supply or Taylor Concepts. I had emailed SCS about a type of wax they had & if it complared to Greenleaf's 70/30 but she said she didn't know, so not to sure if they are the one's that bought them out. Haven't tried either of their fragrances so can't help you there.
  7. Love them! Great Job!!! One day I will learn how to do that:)
  8. When I first started making candles I started out making a ton of votives to use for my own personal fundraiser and all I used was Dixie cups. I would tell everyone they had to be burned in a tight fitting container & they had the warning label on them. Despite that, one told me she set it on a plate:rolleyes2 She didn't complain though as she knew she was the problem Another would put it in a bowl surrounded with rice Anyway, I began searching and searching for votive holders that would accommodate these larger size votives. I had one of my own that I bought years ago at Walmart that they fit perfectly in but I couldn't find them again until recently when I realized they had a lot of glass jars back in the craft section. Then I found ones at Michaels. Here are pics of those. As you can see, they are pretty thick glass also. But from now on I will take a votive to the store with me to make sure it will fit in whatever I buy because I went back to buy more of the round ones at Michael and when I got home found that the height on them are not all the same and the votive stuck up about 1/4" above the top In regards to the flower pot votive holders, they don't work for the Dixie cups to well. The bottom of the votive is wider than the bottom of the holder and rattles around & leaves 1/4" gap all the way around the upper portion of it. Ok, I can be long winded:p but I found these holders that I just LOVE and would love to try but I'm not ready to by that much bulk since I'm not in business yet:( http://www.acandleco.com/index.cfm/fa/items.main/parentcat/1266/subcatid/0/id/30978
  9. Thank you so much! Even though I just joined this forum this month, I have been reading & re-reading many threads here for a couple months and doing lots of research on other sights too. You are all awesome on here with all the helpful suggestions. Actually this is the same mold as the green palm pillar which shows the shape better. It was given to me along with all my other molds but Peaks has it. http://www.peakcandle.com/products/Square-wAngled-Corners--35-x-45__M1022.aspx That's it!! That's EXACTLY what I was going for! A cinnamon mint:laugh2:
  10. Those look pretty cool! Love the coloring!
  11. I don't use the wax your using, I use a parasoy but I too found that the Eco's smoked and sooted a lot for me.
  12. Welcome! You are sure to find TONS of great information here & lots of help in your endeavor.
  13. That looks awesome! Congratulations!
  14. Thanks for the compliments! It's reassuring to know that your on the right track when just starting out. Soy, just for kicks I decided to try double wicking that dang tureen since I haven't had much luck single wicking it. I tried almost every kind of wick in it. This one has HTP 41. I tried another one with double HTP 52 and it left some soot. I tried double CD 4 with no smoke, no soot and no hang up whatsoever. Just don't touch the jar though or you'll burn your fingers:eek: I haven't totally given up on single wicking it though since it's only the 8oz one. Someone suggested either a CD 12 or 14. I found a couple places that have CD 3's but I don't have any right now. Georgia, not to busy. I actually did these scattered over the last 6 months since I started. I just couldn't stop myself from playing
  15. Ok, here are my last few pics. Again, I couldn't just do a simple sphere, I had to make a layered one. Twigs & Berries 2nd pic is after almost 30 hours of burn time. And last are a few jars recently made using 6006 with 15% 464. Loved the smooth creamy tops:) Gardenia, Clean Cotton, Bayberry, & Twigs & Berries. Ok, I'm done for now
  16. So instead of starting out with simple pillars I just jumped right in This first one I did was when I was doing the Susan G. Komen for the Cure walk. For a first chunk, let alone my first pillar, I didn't think it turned out to bad. Then I decided to try my hand at a candy cane pillar using the instructions on CandleTech. Obviously I poured the layers to soon as the pink was supposed to be white but my friends thought I did it like that on purpose I was thrilled with the way it burned as the last pic shows all that was left:yay: The HT sucked though and I couldn't figure it out as the peppermint was burning my nose when I was making it:( Next I just had to try some other molds out I had. The last pic is after 21 hours total burn time. I had slight spill over on the smaller ones in the beginning. Not sure if I should wick down or leave it. Used 18FB on the small, 24FB on the bigger one. Well, after looking at all the beautiful palm pillars on here, I just HAD to try that too using Starburst Palm from Peaks:cheesy2: And apparently that's all I can post on posting:smiley2: Will post a couple others to follow.
  17. Very nice! I've not seen a mold like that anywhere on the sites I've been to. That's pretty neat!
  18. LOL, I don't think you have anything to worry about any time soon Scented. I still have LOTS of testing to do to catch up to many of you!!!!! I will have to post some of my first pillars that I was QUITE proud of though Bella Rose & Pam - Maybe that's why I see more mottle in my rustic, lol. I haven't had a chance to do the re-pour yet. Other rediculous things like laundry, cleaning, and work keep getting in the way of my fun
  19. Oh Ok, That's great because I have just about every size of CD's
  20. Stella, I see you mentioning CDN frequently but I can't seem to find where to get them. I've searched everywhere! I did find this AM that Southwest Candle Supply has a couple but only cdn 10 & 12. Please let me in on your secret supplier
  21. That sure helped out!! Thanks for showing us newbies another way to look at it now I need to save this thread
  22. Placed my order for some samples today:yay: First time trying there scents so hope I'm not disappointed
  23. Not sure if I'm understanding your question:confused: Are you trying to conserve the 1oz for a second test? Or are you asking how much wax for the whole 1oz? I usually start with 6% which is 1oz ppw. So that could make 2 8oz candles.
  24. I got that email too and just took a glance And you know Peaks has a <edited by Scented Specific mention of sales prohibited in this section> sale through this Friday also
  25. You guys are AWESOME!! Thanks for all the tips and encouragement I like to play and experiment when I get frustrated with the jar wicking. It's all about learning, Right?
