  1. I can't wait to try it, but will it throw in 6006 ParaSoy? I've only made 4 cases of candles so far, but the CandleScience FOs threw better for me in 6006 than a couple of others.
  2. Geez, this is confusing. lol On my first batch of 21 candles, I used 1 oz of CandleScience FO p.p. of 6006 wax, & got good CT but no HT, even when I set the candles on a candle warmer, no HT. I probably didn't stir for the full 2 minutes & I stirred too gently. (I added the FO at 195 to 200 degrees, & I used the 2-1/2 " wide, regular mouth, 8 oz jj's & size 51 zinc wicks, & poured about 175.) But the 3 candles I made with 1.50 oz of FO p.p. of 6006 still had no HT when burned, but had an okay HT on the candle warmer. But this recent batch I made, after consulting a local chandler who uses 6006 & who always uses 2 oz of FO p.p. of wax, so I used 2 oz of CandleScience FO p.p. of 6006 wax, added the FO at 215 degrees, stirred for at least 2 or 3 minutes while watching a clock with a sweep-second hand, poured at 150, & I got a very good HT so that one medium tureen jar, 4" wide, with a size 62 zinc wick, scents a 650 square-foot room.
  3. LOL Yes, they look pretty crummy if you know anything about candles. The 16 oz "Main Stay" mason jar ones, which are "handmade" by The Candle Cottage, look diseased.
  4. You can name one after the notorious female pirate, Anne Bonnie, using "Butt Naked," and call it: "Anne Bonnie's Booty."
  5. Thanks for the review! I think I'll get their melter & some tarts to try, but I hope this doesn't hurt everyone's tart sales as much as I fear.
  6. On my first candles, I started out using a 6% fragrance load in 6006 with 51z wicks in 8 oz jj's, and I am very disappointed with the results, even though I used CS FOs with the strongest 3 leaf rating. The cold throw is good, but the hot throw is minimal. & since I made 24 jj candles, 3 of each FO, it was a very expensive lesson to learn to use more FO. I did make 3 candles of a Taylored Concepts FO at 1.5 oz per pound, & those 3 are the only ones that were okay. But next I'll try Comfort Blend wax, since it's supposed to have the strongest hot throw. So, don't make too many at 6%, it was a waste for me.
  7. sigh... I guess the only way to compete is by having FOs that they don't sell. & all their 16 oz & 18 oz candles are $5.00, in apoth jars, mason jars, & round candle bowls with 3 wicks. But my cousin tells me they are smokey & don't have much hot throw, & I hope she's right.
  8. Awesome! Thank you. Lately I'm thinking that a professional label might make my candles look mass-produced, so I'm thinking maybe of using a hang-tag of some kind, & handwriting the scent on it.
  9. I just saw the big new display at WalMart of their "Better Homes & Gardens" brand $15 tart melters & $2.00 clamshell tarts. I opened & smelled every scent & they smelled good & strong, much better than any of their candles. A Scentsy customer was there buying the tarts & she said that she & her daughter like them as well as Scentsy tarts.
  10. And custom pre-designed canning labels! Neat! http://www.canningpantry.com/custom-canning-labels.html
  11. Oh, cool! Custom printed Libbey jars! http://bargainmugs.com/customized-candy-jars-c-6
  12. It has their business name & logo on it. http://lizziecandle.com/index.cfm/fa/store.prod/ProdID/94/Name/Classic%20Soy%20Jar%20Candles.htm
  13. Thank you, Stella. So, in a straight-sided jar is one test-burn period enough?
  14. Do you extinguish every 3 hours & let it cool down? or do you burn it non-stop? Do you trim the wick every so often while test burning? or are you testing to see what will happen if the customer doesn't trim?
  15. I haven't seen the paraffin & palm chandlers with lies & hype on their websites yet, but I'm sure there must be some.
  16. The hype & lies surrounding the soy wax is the scam.
  17. I did not say that YOU are a scammer just because you like to make soy candles. The hype & lies surrounding soy is the scam.
  18. Yes, it does, but not as strong as sticking your nose in a jar of natural peanut butter. I wonder what TC "Peanut" smells like.
  19. Because I think it's a scam. I no longer see any benefits to soy. Palm is pretty, though. Of Course I don't have to make soy candles & I also don't have to buy them. If others want to make, sell, or buy soy candles, fine. But the hype is offensive, especially when paraffin candle makers lose business due to false statements about their product causing cancer or giving off petroleum fumes. Ridiculous.
  20. I just bought 8 oz a couple of weeks ago & it hasn't changed, & I'm going to use it all up in Comfort Blend candles in early May by mixing it 50/50 with TC Maple Syrup, so I hope it doesn't change before then. TC also has just "Peanut."
  21. When I was in sales, the first rules were: never bash the competition & never lie, but I see soooo much of that on soy candle websites that even though I originally wanted to make soy candles, I'm offended now by all the dishonest hype & very turned off to soy.
